So the police confiscated the 6th graders' find. I hope they find the rightful owner, and I hope the kids at least get a reward. If they don't find the owner, I wonder who gets the loot.
Nice retirement places, I guess. I don't feel the need to downsize, my house being already small enough. I doubt I'll move at all until/unless I just can't handle living here any longer. And then it would be to more of an "assisted living" place. At least I hope it would. Sure wouldn't want to live in a nursing home for any reason.
What a find in Russia. I rather imagine politics will determine disposition of the relics.
I hope the 6th graders get some sort of reward. I understand the police confiscating the items, but it sounds like the kids do this routinely and a reward would be nice.
The retirement places are nice, but most are a bit above my touch. I was surprised at the prices in SC, particularly in Simpsonville, which is four hours from any beach. I was also surprised at the Phoenix prices, since my sister can't sell her house for the balance on the mortgage. Me? I'm happy with our 1600 square feet and wouldn't want to downsize much more. If we have to downsize, it will be in terms of land and the ability to maintain our little acre of paradise and giving up the basement, shed and shop that house all of Himself's radio gear, equipment, parts for repair and refurbs. I don't see myself in an apartment (two dogs?), but if I could find a small patio home in a retirement community, where they did the lawn and maintenance and I could have a little garden...
Hi Pat
I would have let the school keep the find and have them try to find the owners for a period of time. Then give the kids a reward. The police confiscating the find sends the wrong message.
I don't really feel the need to downsize but going to a one story is becoming very attractive. Assisted living at some point for me also.

Hi Pat
I think you are no doubt right about politics decidin where the Russia find will go.
The 6th graders deserve a reward and a nice one. First they were doing something good before they found the treasure, second they were honest when they found it, and third a reward would enforce that doing the right thing is the way to go.
The prices didn't suprise me because or experience with dad. And with Mom. Arizona and Nevada have had bad housing markets because during the boom their houses went out of sight. Now they are adjusting. The lawn would also be one of the reasons I would downsize. You just described where Mom lives. King City, OR.
