Last, first. I'm so sorry to hear of the death of Mankiller, about whom I've heard nothing but good. She's a woman I've long admired, maybe partially given my interest in Native American history. I sincerely hope the new chief will continue her practices and programs.
Big congrats to the Ghana graduate, both because of pursuing his goal at an advanced age and because of his message to his fellow countryman. The article brought to mind two quotes. One is from my "perpetual inspiration" calendar.
"You can have the results you say your want or you can have all the reasons why you can't have them. You can't have both. Reasons or results. You get to choose." (Susan Carlon)
The other is Julia Cameron's philosophy in Artists Way. When someone said (but) he/she would be 60 before they got their degree, she responded the person could be sixty with a degree or sixty without a degree, depending on what they really wanted.
Hey, look at Grandma Moses! I have an acquaintance, age 96, who's still taking history and philosophy classes through Fulir at Furman.
Hi DR
I hadn't heard about Mankiller tell her death. Amazing woman with an amazing history and sense of humor. I hope the new chief is a woman in her honor.
I love both quotes. As you know Cameron is one of my favorites.
My mom painted a picture when she was 86.

Me, too. Sorry to hear Wilma Mankiller died. She was quite a woman and died too young.
And wow! to the Ghanian man who went back to college at 96. Maybe there's hope for me. {g}
Hi Pat
Maybe there is hope for me too!
Bill
