Good Stories Following Troubling News.

My lunch date is today so wish me luck. The answer to yesterday's Who Am I was Hertha Marks Ayrton

I talked to Mark P. last night after he got home. He said he broke down as soon as he pulled into his driveway. He is going to stay busy the next couple of weeks by working around his property (they have twenty acres) and deal with the legal stuff later. After Mark P. left I stopped by the firm that bought my business to pick up my royalty check, now I need to ask for prayers for another Mark. The Mark that bought my business (Mark W.) discovered during tax season that he has an aggressive form of prostate cancer. It is contained so that is good. The are doing pre-surgery tests now and his surgery is scheduled in two weeks. Prayers, good vibes, good thoughts and anything you have thrown Mark W's way please.

Here is an update on a story I shared a couple of weeks ago. It gets even more charming:

Let's go from the charming to the good. Good and inventive ideas:

From the good and inventive to a man that is doing what he can to help others:

Your comments are appreciated. Depending how it goes I may report in on my lunch date tomorrow.

You've got it, Bill! Lots of luck on your lunch date. I hope the good relationship you two already have continues even though it's now officially a "date". That can be a little intimidating. {g}

Oh, no! I'm so sorry to hear about Mark W's problem! It explains something, though. I had given him $500 worth of wrong information about how much I paid in estimated taxes. The IRS sent me a nice letter {s} saying they were reducing my refund and why. When I checked back, I found it was totally my mistake, so I emailed Mark with a mea culpa, apologizing for misleading him. I hadn't heard anything back, and that's unlike him, so I thought he was either on vacation or was mad at me. He surely has all my good wishes for a correct treatment and a swift recovery!

I just love the deer/goose story. Now that his job is over for now, I hope he doesn't get bored and that if he likes working, he can find somebody else to protect. I also love the airborne gosling in the photo. Looks like it's heading for a soft landing on Mom.

I also love the soap-recycling story. Good work there! Ditto for St. Denis and his wheelchairs. I can only imagine how wonderful that must be for someone who didn't have access to one before. What a wonderful project!

Looking forward to a report on your lunch. {S}

Hi Pat

More tomorrow but the lunch date went well, she was really nice and we have a lot in common.

Mark is having a hard time deciding what clients to tell and which ones not to tell, some here the word cancer and flee. I asked if I could tell you and he said "sure, she is on my favorites." He us definitely not mad at you. I'm sure under normal circumstances he would have responded to the e-mail right away. They discovered it during tax season and the doctor said it wouldn't spread and was afraid with the stress of tax season it would be to much. Hard time to hear that news.

I'm with you the goose/dear story is just so interesting. I also hope there is someone else out there in need the Deer can protect.

Soap recycling is just something I never thought about. What I like about the wheelchair story is that it started with a few and turned in many being given a way.

I'm glad to hear Mark still likes me. {g} Please tell him he has many good wishes coming from here. I do know that usually prostate cancer is very slow-growing, if it grows at all. I'm sorry he has a more aggressive form, but am also glad he could wait until there was a lull in work.

I had actually thought of doing soap recycling myself. Take that little sliver that's too small to be useful, put it in a jar with a little water, keep adding slivers and when you get enough, squish them all together and let the resulting "bar" dry out. I started doing that, but didn't carry on. Should try again.

Late tonight. So glad to hear the lunch went well. In my experience, friendship is the best place to start.

MY prayers continue for Mark P. I think he's smart to deal with the property first (physical labor, visible results) and the legal later. I'm so sorry to hear about Mark W. FWIW, one of the guys in my aerobics class (my success success story) was diagnosed with aggressive prostrate cancer, had the surgery the end of December, was back in the pool two weeks ago, having been declared cancer free. I'll hold thoughts and say prayers Mark W has the same positive results.

No comments on the articles, which I'll read later (hopefully).Right now I have a tiny little creature in my live, demanding a lot of vigelence, attention, trips outside and loves. Hopefully, we've had enough playtime for her to sleep in her box, but she's been sleeping with a sort of adoptive mother poodle, so we'll see. I could end up in the craft room on the couch, while she adjusts to her box. the rescue adoption obviously moved at warp speed (not surprising, since she seems to move at warp speed!)

Hi Pat

How could Mark not like you? You send your stuff in, in very organized fashion, you pay your bill promptly, you only ask really good questions, you take responsibility if you make a mistake. Any CPA would put you at the top of the list.

See I just never think of things like soap recycling unless somebody tells me something can be recycled. I'm glad you were aware enough to think of it.

Hi DR

You got a new baby? We want pictures.

I think Mark P should stay as busy as possible and not make any decisions for a year.

I'm really optimistic that both Marks will outlive me.

These are the type of articles that are pick up so save them and read them when you are down.
