Saturday Update

For the second week in the row, Update Day comes on a Saturday. Tomorrow we will celebrate Mothers' Day with a couple of articles about Mom's including the unusual Mother of The Year choice by an organization in Portland.

Last week was really kind of emotional some ways very stressful. Monday and Tuesday was a very emotional visit with Mark P. to take his wife off of his safe deposit boxes and put my name on it. It never happened because both her parents were on them and both had died. We needed their death certificates. The bank suggested that we closed out the boxes and opened new ones but we didn't do that either. Right before she died his wife paid the boxes for a year. I didn't want him to lose the money so we tabled the change until next February. As executor of his estate I can get into his boxes with a copy of the will. Wednesday was an emotional meeting with Mark W. where I found out he had prostate cancer. Thursday was a really fun lunch date with a pretty cool lady named Nancie. For you Facebook people she is on my friend list. Friday it was dead car day. Four hundred bucks later it was live car day. Also thrown in the week were two nights and one day at Mom's.

After the emotional week I am just kicking back today and resting. The only thing I have scheduled for next week is taking breakfast over to Mom's tomorrow morning to celebrate Mothers Day with her. Then just one night and one day at Mom's. The rest of the week is unscheduled but I am sure it will include some lawn mowing, lunches out with mom, dinner out with the family, and some normal life errands.

Entertainment update. Finally my least favorite Kendra Wilkinson was eliminated from Dancing With The Stars. This week I think Kirstie goes. On The Celebrity Apprentice for the second week in a row the project manager of the losing team was saved because Trump thought they were a stronger team member than someone else, so Holly got sent packing. And in twist Latoya Jackson was brought back from elimination and placed on the men's team. On The Amazing Race eliminated were Kent & Vyxsin. I was glad to see them go. I'm am now rooting for the Globetrotters.

Looking forward to your updates. I would really love to hear from our contingent of one from Singapore. Enjoying the weekend and post whatever you damn will please.

You did have an emotional week. It's particularly annoying to get hit with regulations and refusals when you're dealing with grief. I'm so glad you were there with Mark P and able to spend time with him. He and Mark W will continue in my prayers.

Bummer on the car! Yea on the happy luncheon. I just read your comments from yesterday and hope you ask her out again, as it sounds like you both enjoyed it.

My week has been a little crazy. I did get in some editorial hours (not many) and four pool workouts. I think I mentioned the puppy adoption moved at warp speed, as if it was meant to happen. I think she's going to be "Skipper" if that doesn't confuse Spooker too much (shouldn't - she was used to Skeeter as a name). We're a very busy little girl and constant vigalence is required for housebreaking. She's crated when I'm at the pool, sleeps in a box right the bed. Sleeps through the night, a couple little whimpers, but settles as soon as I put my hand down in the box. Needs lots of play time, loves to nap in my lap or on the ottoman, settles right down for meditation. I could go on and on, but let's say she seems darned sharp and, for a little girl who's had no training at all, she's doing pretty darned well. She is extremely affectionate and needs attention, since she misses her other housemates and Spook is still not quite sure what to make of her. In and amongst this, we suddenly have to have all the paperwork put together for the refinance of the house. Reams of paper. My lie-abed days are over - Skip's up as soon as Himself stirs, usually around 7:00 (Yawn). That mean's Mom's up and outside quite early. She can't be outside alone because (a) one needs to be sure she does jobs and (b) at 2.5#, she looks like a snack to the area hawks. I shall cease my babbling.

Bill, someone asked for a picture. Can you upload one of those I sent you (I still haven't figured out quite how to do that here).

Bill, I'm glad you could help both Marks, and I'm still sending good wishes to both of them.

I'm glad you had a fun lunch date, and hope that you and Nancie have many, many more. {s}

My update is more of a downer. Seems I have pneumonia. For several weeks, I thought I was just tired, but now I have a diagnosis and a bunch of antibiotics. Worst thing is the doc forbids me to visit my mom's facility. Not because I'm contagious, but because she says my immune system is so weakened that if anybody coughs on me, I'm dead meat. Or words to that effect. So I'll be having a nice vacation from all the visiting for a while (I hope only a week), but of course when I don't go there, I worry even though I know they take very good care of mom. I could use a few good thoughts.

Well I am still having a bit of trouble with the commenting. I actually have been missing this week, lots of problems, but managed to get in to read the posts, just not comment. I thought I was first today, and went I went to post it, got the error again. So am planning to try to copy each post before hitting the button where all is lost! :(

OK to try again, Bill it does sound as you had a mentally exhausting week with not only the car repairs, but the visits with your friends. I will continue to say prayers for Mark P. and I am so glad he has you as a friend to take care of him. I just think the small things you notice(not wanting him to lose money on boxes) shows how much you care for him.
I will also say a prayer for Mark W.

I am glad the date with Nancie went well, and that there is one in the future. Sorry about the car and the repairs, but very happy it waited until after the date to die on you!

I agree with all you say on the entertainment front. I actually have been hit and miss on most shows but know I can come here and you will fill in the blanks for me!

DR, happy to see there is a new lady in the house. Can't wait for a picture!

For us, since this is update day, it was a lousy week. Started off good as we thought we had the week to ourselves, as dad was away on a golf vacation all week. But first off when coming into the house after the first half away, we noticed a terrible smell and it actually after only a few moments made us sick. Turns out after about 24 hours we had a Broken sewer vent. But happy to report it was fixed quickly and we feel better now. But then the Shankster also had to battle since Monday a re occurring problem, and we were online with the triage nurses for 2 days with them telling us it wasn't a big deal. He had this before....and they finally scheduled him in on Thursday for a check. I only wish I could tell you all here what we have went through this week, but think this is a PG rated blog. :) Long story short, he has to go on the 26th for a couple of grueling tests and a procedure that is not too pretty or comfortable, in hopes that this is all nothing to worry about. Then if that weren't enough, on the same day he had already had an appointment scheduled for his tongue, he has a lump on it the size of an olive that is giving him troubles. Doc suggested it come out and on this coming Friday. Evidently he will fly through the surgery but be miserable for 11 days. (help me please) :)

So any and all prayers for the Shankster over the next three weeks would be appreciated.

Again if that were only all, but I came home to mow the grass as all the rain has it backed up to say the least. Mower decided Friday was the day to not cooperate. I got angry and kicked it. Today it started. Yay. We are still fighting the losing battle with the remains of the pine trees that have fallen since the ice storm and the wind from over a month back. A county road worker dug out the ditches at our property front and instead of helping it has made a mess, gravel from neighboring properties got into the ditches and clogged up the drains, filling the ditches and then some with water.
The body shop has never called to fix our car from the tree limb falling on it and destroying the mirror and windows(over 2 weeks now)

Other than that, I think it was a good week. :)

Hey post went through that way, guess that is the trick for now. Anyone else have this problem?

Pat, sorry to hear you are sick. Wishing for a speedy recovery!! I am sure the facility will take very good care of your mother, but will still send good vibes.

Hi DR

Thanks for the Marks, it is appreciated.

I'm trying to think what is appropriate for the second date, they are so unusual for me.

I'm glad to hear you got some editiorial hours in and the pool workouts

I think Spooker will be just fine with Skipper. Skipper is just going to happy to have a home and in doggie talk he will let Spooker know. Sounds like she has already connected to you. She does she darn sharp.

I don't how you did everything you did and sill get the refinance done on your house.

I will post a picture of the new little buddy as soon as you send it to me!

Hi Pat

Please get well soon. Of cotrourse you have my good thoughts. A little troubling that they didn't find pneumonia for a while. I kind of hate to be a Pllyanna but maybe it is good to stay away from the facility for a while, maybe it was just time to do that. They will watch out for your Mom. You are the star visitor and they won't want to let you down. Worrying is natural, so you are normal.

Both Marks thank you.

Hi Dona

Always good to catch up with you. Sorry you having trouble commentating. I compose my post and my comments in my word processor before posting.

Thanks for the Marks, I know they appreciate it.

The car actually died on the way to the date but started right up. So it least it got me through that.

How awful to think you get a week to itself only have it ruined the first day with a bad sewer. I'm glad you got it fixed.

Now if we could fix The Shankster.
Any time you are in pain it is a big deal and I hate the damn nurses for telling you something else.

We will be praying and rooting for The Shankster on the 26th. We will root for good test results and an easier procerdure than expected.

A lump anywhere the size of an olive is nothing to sneeze at. I'm glad he is getting it looked into. I'm hoping the eleven days will pass fast and that nothing else will come out of the surgery.

Of course The Shankster has out prayers and good thoughts.

I hope you didn't hurt your foot kicking the lawn mower.

We need to beat the crap out of the body shop and the doofus city worker that obviously didn't know what he was doing.

May you have a great week soon!

Bill

Pat, you know I'm sorry about the pneumonia. Hadn't realized you were banned from LC. I know they'll care for your mom and you can use the rest. Please try not to worry about not being there.

Dona, it sounds like it's just one thing on top of another for you guys. I'm sending lots of prayers for the Shankster's health issues, all of which sound unpleasant at the very least. Having to deal with the house and yard issues adds insult to injury.

As to posts, Google or the blog program is doing something strange the last few weeks. I now post my comment, then copy it to the clipboard. Hit "publish" and it takes me to a separate page to log in, do that, takes me to a page saying can't post. I come back here, it shows me logged in, I paste in my message, hit publish and it posts just fine. Not sure why I have to go around my elbow, but at least it works.

Bill, how about an early movie and coffee and dessert after? A trip to the zoo? A ride up the mountain for lunch at that restaurant you like so much? Doing just about any of the things you said you two had in common.

Oops, thought I sent you some pix I took the first night/next morning. Will do so today.

Thanks Guys, for the prayers for the Shankster, just reading this to him made him laugh...the laughter is what gets us through most days.

DR, what you described is something that is happening to me also, and sometimes just an error message right as I hit the publish button! But I forget one day to the next and will forget to write my comment in wordpad and copy, then come back....it was so much easier to just leave a comment and hit the publish button! (I like easy) But whatever works for now will do. Yes send pics soon! We love doggie pics.

Bill, it isn't that "they" didn't find pneumonia, I was the one who didn't think it was anything much. When I finally went to the doctor, she found it right away, even though all along my lungs have *sounded* clear to everyone who listened, including her.

As to second date, all of DR's suggestions are good. Me? I'm so pedestrian that I was just going to say "dinner". {g}

I have had an issue or two with posting, but not as bad as Dona and DR. Once in a while, I'll be taken to a new page where I have to enter my google email addy and p/w. Then I come back here and everything is normal. It seems to keep me logged in for quite a while, and then I have to do that again.

Hi DR

Early movie sounds good because we both like to go to the movies. She loved The King's Speech and Invictus so we have the same tases in movies.

I got the pictures and will post a couple of them tomorrow.

Hi Dona

Just for The Shankster. Do you know why Cherry Trees smell? George Washington cut one.

I will try to find out from the Google help section to see if I can find a problem. Usually it pretty useless but every once in a while somebody will post something helpful.

Then I am glad you doctor found it right away.
