It's Never To Late

"I'm nuts and I know it. But so long as I make 'em laugh, they ain't going to lock me up.” Red Skeleton.

Let's start the day out with a "it's never to late" type of story:

http://www.aolnews.com/2011/04/22/83-year-old-holocaust-survivor-finally-celebrates-bar-mitvah/

Next up is a "are you kidding me" type of story:

http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2011/04/23/burrito_donation_sparks_hot_words_at_boston_city_hall/

The final story of the day came down to a story about a senior in high school faking a pregnancy as a school project to test stereo types and a story of an usual house. I chose the house:

The weather is beautiful here today for the first Saturday in a while. It is the first Saturday I haven't worked in a while. I'm going with lazy today. Hope you can have a relaxing day also. Comment away.

PS

The answer to yesterday's Who Am I was Imogen Cunningham.

How happy the man must be to finally celebrate his bar-mitvah.

The burrito story - it seems like no good deed goes unpunished, when it comes to food donations and fund raisers and the like.

The houses were fascinating. I really liked the silo. The Pullman car might be fun, but I'm not sure I'm into long and skinny, having dealt with that a time or two in the past.

I hope you held onto the faked pregnancy story, if it held some information/insight into stereotypical reactions from both kids and adults.

Congrats on the good weather. You guys deserve it and I hope you've taken time and opportunity to enjoy it.

Mazel tov to the bar mitzvah guy. It's the very least he deserves after all he went through.

The burrito story is just another example of petty bureaucracy, and I don't blame the restaurant owner for publicizing it.

Just as well you chose the house, because the fake pregnancy story has been all over the news. Amazing that she could keep it secret from all but her parents and her boyfriend for so long. Apparently even the BF's parents didn't know, so her revelation at the end must have been a BIG relief to them!

Love the houses. I'd go for the treehouse except maybe for that ladder to the bedroom. Not exactly efficient for me. {g} So I think I'll take the missile silo, thanks.

Pat, I obviously need to get out more (or watch more TV). I had no clue about the fake pregnancy thing. Were the reports interesting?

I only saw snippets. Apparently she had lots of people telling her she was ruining her life and she'd made a mistake and would never get anywhere in life. I didn't hear anything about positive comments, if there were any. The really interesting thing was that she could carry it off with so few people knowing and apparently nobody telling. I feel very sorry for the boyfriend's parents if they really didn't know it was a hoax.

Hi DR

Here is the link to the teen that faked her pregnancy. She had a 3.8 GPA:

I was glad the man had his celebration, he deserved it.

The burrito story just shows you how unflexible government can be.

My favorite house was the Church.

Yesterday was stunning in many ways, including an unexpected victory by our Trailblazers, coming from 23 points down in the fourth quarter.

Hi Pat

The elderly man deserved the celebration and I am glad he had it.

I don't blame the restaurant guy for publishing it either. Had I been the owner you better beleive I would.

You have the reason why I chose the house. The story was big news here because it is in our neighboring state. I sometimes will pick a story even though I know it has been everywhere because I can't find anything else.

My favorite was the church house.

Hi DR

The fake story was on the West Coast so it was everywhere out here. You also don't watch TV but she did the inteview rounds on TV.
They probably didn't do much with the story on the East Coast.

Hi Pat

They also told her she was irresponsible. There weren't any positive comments and her fellow students, including her friends, stayed away from her. She felt pretty alone.

Not only did the boy friend's parents not know, they thought it was going to be a boy. Them not knowing was the one thing about the story that bothered me the most.
