Today is the day that we sat aside to honor those in the military in particular those that paid the ultimate price so that we may be free. Here is the history of Memorial Day:

The picture is of my cousin Lt. Edward Grover Delong one of the few soldiers to win both the Navy Cross and the Silver Star. He was captured by the Japanese during WWII and beheaded. The movie They Were Expendable is about his troops. This the movie that gave Spielberg the inspiration to do Saving Private Ryan.
