Derby Day.

Kentucky Derby Day. I am not wearing a bonnet. I am going with Daddy Nose Best. Not the favorite, not a long shot, just sort of middle of the road. There is an off track betting site near here and I am seriously thinking about going there and going across the board with DNB.

No theme today just articles that struck my fancy for some reason or another.

Overkill was the word that came to mind when I read the following article:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/offbeat/story/2012/05/04/denver-boy-sexual-harassment-suspended.html

Come on people get a clue!

The next article brought a smile to my face:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/03/carolann-nunez-down-syndrome-prom-queen_n_1474415.html?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-nb%7Cdl4%7Csec3_lnk3%26pLid%3D157824

A big applause for her fellow students for giving her a moment in the sun.

Did you know there is going to be a Super Moon tonight? Something to stay up and see. This is the point when the moon is closest to the earth. Since the moon is on the brain right now I enjoyed the following article:

Comment Away.

Fun about the Derby. I just looked up the horses, and without knowing anything except the name and photo, I'll go with either Optimizer because I like his alert experssion and forward-looking ears, or Creative Cause, whose expression I can't see too well because of the mask, but I like the ears and my favorite horse back when we rode sometimes was a dapple grey. I didn't try to handicap either one, so it's just instinct with me.

The story about the 6 y/o is not only overkill, it is terminal stupidity on the part of the school officials. It seems like every time a "zero tolerance" policy is decided upon, people tend to get crazy or stupid. The kid is 6, for heaven's sake!

Lovely that the girl got her dream to be prom queen. I hope the rest of her life lives up to that moment.

I'll try to remember to get a good look at the moon tonight. I have this little program from my daughter that shows me the phase of the moon in a little box when I boot up. Today it looks as if it won't be quite full, but so close as to make no difference to the naked eye, and that it will be so close to us should make it very pretty and impressive. I just hope for clear skies tonight.

I am hoping for clear skies tonight too, right now it's not looking very hopeful.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Bill, it was a really nice birthday!

Hi Pat

We didn't do real well with our Derby picks. I'll Have Another won it by several linkes. The horse was named I'll Have Another because that is what the owner said everytime his wife asked him if he wanted another cookie.

I agree that it is terminal stupidity for the school to suspend the boy for singing lyrics he probably doesn't even understand.

I also hope the rest of her life lives up to the prom queen moment.

According to the news on TV the moon became full one minute after it was closest to the earth. I did get to see the moon and it was stunning, almost like you could reach out and touch it. We did have clear skys here and I hope you did also.

Hi Mary

I'm glad you had a great birthday. The restaurant you went to was mentioned in the USA Today Friday as they did the best restaurants in Seattle.

We ended up with cleak skies hope you did too.
