Went to the movie Hancock this morning but before my review of the movie I received some news from my brother. Would like to ask everyone for good thoughts and prayers for my brother for a quick recovery. Got a call from my brother from the emergency room in the hospital in Dubois, Wyoming. While playing tennis with my nephew my brother ruptured his achilles tendon on his left foot. He had surgery this morning on it and they are expecting a ten week recovery. He will be on crutches for most of the ten weeks. The recovery will be very difficult for him because he is so active and this is the first major injury that he has ever had. He is going to be fit to be tied most of those ten weeks. So come on everyone send some vibes to my brother for patience and a quick recovery!
Hancock was a very enjoyable movie. Stars Will Smith, Jason Bateman, and the beautiful Charlize Theron. The basic plot is a hard-living superhero who has fallen out of favor with the public enters into a questionable relationship with the wife of the public relations professional who's trying to repair his image. Will Smith is Hancok, the hero. Jason Bateman is the public relations professional, and Charlize Theron is the wife of the public relations professional.
Three footballs. One for Smith. One for Theron. One for Bateman. They are did an amazing job of acting. The pumped up a week story line and made it enjoyable to watch. Sometimes the movie is a little sappy, the story line is unreal at times, and the special effects are repititive. Still worth the money.
Hope this day finds you all well and in good spirits.

So sorry to hear about your brother's problem. Tell him I know exactly how he feels, having just come off something of about the same length. It was 10 or 12 weeks before I could put that second foot down, and then a few more having to wear "the boot", which he may not have to do, with any luck at all. I'll give him the same advice my SIL gave me: do exactly as the doctor says and don't get overeager. The future you will thank the present you.
He has all my good thoughts and wishes. You can tell him also that it wasn't as bad as I anticipated and the time went by much faster than I thought it would, but I was sure happy to get that left foot back in action.
Hi Pat
I actually thought of you the minute brother called me. I will pass on your advise to him. Thank you for that.

Sending healing vibes and white light for patience to your bro. I can't relate, as Pat can, but having just been given a four week recuperation time to being back on the top burner with energy and such, after the "serum sickness" I can relate to how hard it's going to be for him to be non-active for a long period.
I'm with Pat -- tell him to do what the doctor says and take it easy, as it'll make life much better in three months and three years.

Hi There Dr
I'm going to sending good thoughts and prayers back your direction for healing.
My brother has two good role models in you and Pat.

I echo Pat and Lady... one of the two longest surgeries to heal from is the foot. We use it for everything! Sending strength and healing thoughts his way. He does not want to rush this... doing as the doctor says will benefit him greatly. Oh.. the other surgery? Anything oral. We tend to use that area lot too :)
I've been wanting to see Hancock, too. Thanks for the review. I happen to open all weekend, I should be able to squeeze it in :)
Best wishes to you, your brother and your Mom,
K
John had his rotator cuff surgery on 31 January, and he got back on the water rowing on Tuesday, 8 July. The therapist told him that he was going to do well because he had a goal. The therapist also him that when he quit doing his exercises, that was as much improvement as he was going to get. John finally got back on the water, and he's still doing his exercises. Folks have told us that recovery from rotator cuff surgery is among the hardest.
Tell your brother to keep that in mind. He'll work hard, because he is motivated. Best wishes for him.
Hi Kaye
I hope your mom's birthday went well and best to her, you, and your family.
I think brother will have a hard time doing what the doc says but I will send him all the messages posted here about it.
Right now is on four days complete bed rest with the foot elevated, then it is ten weeks on crutches. It will be a long road for him.

Hello Mary Z
Always good to see you here.
Wow John has had a long recovery. I think he can improve even more, just by doing what he is doing.
He must be a really dedicated man. My best to him.
Bill
