Update Day

Hope things are going well with today and at the end of today you will look back on a great day! The answer to yesterday's Who Am I was Dolley Madison.

MY UPDATE:

Last week, two nights at Mom's, a nice dinner with Mom on Sunday, A great birthday lunch on Monday with Mom, A birthday dinner with Sister Tuesday, A birthday lunch with my Albany cousins on Wednesday, the movie Knight and Day on Thursday, and two days of rest on Friday and Saturday. I wasn't really feeling that well later in the week so outside of a little over an hour with Mom on Saturday I rested. I'm still not one hundred percent so a few vibes and prayers would appreciated. Speaking of vibes and prayers please send some Red Whistle's way. She is a reader of the blog and posts sometimes. Her Mom has cancer. So muster up the famous blog healing powers and send them her way.

On the agenda for next week: One night at Mom's. Finalizing the dinner plans for the cousin reunion Mom and I are hosting the last week in July. Now that I have completed all my education I need to fill out the license renewal and send the State one hundred and fifty bucks so that I can keep using the CPA designation. The cost of the education was over a thousand bucks. It's expensive to have some titles. If I changed my title to Education Bum it sure would be cheaper.

HEALTH UPDATE:

I thought this was extremely good news so decided to share it today:

ENTERTAINMENT UPDATE:

Good news for Pat and I on the entertainment front. Joan Rivers is being sued. She is being sued for saying she was being sued:

http://www.walletpop.com/blog/2010/06/25/joan-rivers-sued-by-ex-manager-in-ironic-twist/?icid=main|htmlws-main-n|dl8|link6|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.walletpop.com%2Fblog%2F2010%2F06%2F25%2Fjoan-rivers-sued-by-ex-manager-in-ironic-twist%2F

On Top Chef it was a good week for women. Tracy won the Quickfire Challenge and my gal Kelly won the elimination challenge! I'm still rooting for her.

I didn't like the movie Knight And Day near as much as the critics did. I was in my realistic mood and it just bothered me how a car could go down the freeway at hundred miles an hour when nobody has their foot on the gas pedal. I did find out during the movie why I love my Mom so damn much and that sometimes it is expensive being her son. Tom Cruise comes on the screen, Mom says "you are better looking them him." I dropped my popcorn all over the floor on that one and then had to take out a second mortgage on my house to go by another bag of it. But how can you not love a Mom that sees you that way? It was worth two bags of popcorn.

It is now you turn to update me on your lives. Post whatever you damn well please today (or any day for that matter). Introduce yourself today if the mood strikes you (or any day for that matter). Looking forward to learning about your lives.

PS

In addition to being touched by Mom's comment at the movie, I was also touched my the birthday card my sister sent me. I hope I can live up the way the two most important women in my life view me. You can click on the card to make it larger.

No good news from here. My dear friend's Marine 20-year-old grandson was killed this morning in Afghanistan. His unit was getting ready to be deployed home when he stepped on an IED.

Why can't we get out of this DAMNED war?!? Is it worth it?

Hi Mary Z

That is just to damn tragic for words. My heart goes out to you and his family. At twenty they should be having fun not fighting a war.

Oh, Mary, what tragic news. I'll certainly keep your friend, her family and you in my prayers. So young. ((Gentle hugs))

RedWhistle, am sending prayers of healing and comfort your direction, for your mom, you and all your family.

Bill, you had a busy week, celebrating almost every day. I'll certainly send vibes and prayers your direction that you're back on the top burner soonest.

Not much to report on this end. Getting settled back in to routine, after the trip. Told you about the minor surgery. Doing content and copy editing on a "metaphorical futuristic," which is quite a challenge. I'm hoping a couple days of mindless domestic tasks and such will provide some enlightenment as to how to work with the client and the project. Temps continue to hover at or near a hundred, so few people go outside, unless absolutely necessary. Rain would be welcome.

Oh, Mary, I'm so sorry! I totally agree with you that we should get out of this damned war. And out of Iraq, also. When will we learn that all these foreign interferences only lead to unwinnable quagmires?

Redwhistle, lots of healing vibes for your mom. I know this has to be very hard for both of you.

Great news about the stem cell results. All the stem cell research seems very promising.

Big Grin on the Joan Rivers story. I hope her manager wins big.

Nothing really new around here. I had a Bad Day Friday when due to a stupid office staffer I was scheduled with the wrong kind of specialist for a checkup on my bad eye. Made me downright grumpy, it did.

Mom continues as always, but there are new residents at the facility, which is always interesting. It's full-up now, which is unusual, and the staff is really running around trying to keep up. Fortunately, my mom is something of a favorite, and she doesn't require much except a watchful eye, so I get to just enjoy the shenanigans with sympathy for the staff, but without personal worry.

Hi DR

Thanks for the prayers my direction! I just found out it is going to be a busy week this week to. After Tuesday sis and I have to do eight days in a row at Mom's, Sis will do the first three, I will do the next four, and Sis will do the final one. This is the kind of thing I used to do by myself, makes me glad sis is here.

Hope thie healing on the minor surgery is progressing faster than normal!

I hope the light comes on, on how to work with the client. Either that or the realization to get rid of him or her!

And we have set a record her for rain. More rain in June this year since 1954. You can have some of ours.

Hi Pat

Sorry about the specialist mix up. It would make me more than grumpy, it would make downright pissed off.
Did you re-schedule?

I can't figure out why anyone would be against stem cell research. It just has so much promise to cure a lot diseases.

I thought the Rivers' story might brighten your day!

I am glad your Mom is getting good care and that there are some things happening at the facility to make the visits interesing.

Oh, Bill, I'm so glad Sis is there to help. Is this because the caregiver is still ill or has other issues. Much as I recognize how difficult it is to find a new caregiver, it sounds like it's something you guys may need to consider, unfortunately. Seems like you spend more time with/at your mom's than she does. I sure hope she's on hourly, not salary!

So far, I'm pleased with progress on the foot. Uncomfortable, but nothing like I expected. Now, to see signs of healing and disappearance!

Took the afternoon off and will take tomorrow off from the ms project and hope for enlightenment. I've found that a bit of a break has worked in the past with tangled and convoluted projects, so hope the same is true here. I think she has a story, if I can just find and organize the events (wry s).

Hon, believe me, we'll take any rain you'd like to send this way. Bro said they'd been inundated the last week, while we're still struggling to keep established perennials alive, with no rain and higher than normal temps. We never did have anything resembling spring.

Hi DR

The caregiver changed in the last two hours. Originally she was going to be gone all fourth of July weekend to celebrate her son's birthday. She needs the money so she is going to be her the 1,2,3 so it isn't nine days in a row anymore. It is 6 spread out. Sis does Tuesday, I do Wednesday. Then Sunday, Monday the following week and I do Tuesday and Wednesday. I am really reluctant to look for another caregiver. And she is hourly.

I am glad progress is made on the foot and I am preying for healing and disappearance.

Hope you get rain!!

Bill
