My favorite day. Update Day. You tell me everythin that is going on in your life. Post about anything you damn well please. Ask any questions you want to ask. Seek advise from other posters about anything that is troubling you. Tell us your joys and troubles. Introduce yourself to us if you want to. Any exciting events you went to last week? Any exciting events you having coming up in the next week?
Not much to tell this week.
My brother-in-law's mom passed away Thursday. In some ways it is a blessing because she was in the mental state where she didn't really know anyone including my brother in law. Still brother Bob (and his more of a brother to me than a brother in law) is really sad. He will recover and I will keep him in my prayers and good thoughts. I would love it if you all would also.
The Portrait of Washington County came out yesterday as a supplemental publication inserted in The Times Publications. The blurb I wrote about my mom and out pictures were in there. I dropped it by Mom's on the way to work and she was really touched. I think in this case it was a good thing to make a woman cry.
I'm really ready for tax season to be over. I'm exhausted. A typical day is: get up at 5, shower, fix and eat breakfast, read the paper, head out to work to get their at 7:30, go to the bank on my lunch hour, after work get mom and the caregiver to take them for dinner, after dinner take mom's car to fill it with gas, then take my car to fill it with gas, pick up some prescriptions, pick up dry cleaning, get home at 9 and go to bed. Boring, busy, and exhausting.
At work they really trust me. They pretty much give me the clients that nobody else wants. I met with one client that told me she had an evaluation that basically said she was to crazy to work. Then the next day sent me an email saying she wanted to work at the firm (I sent it to my bosses who thought it was extremely funny). They do have great senses of humor which makes them really easy to work with. My next meeting is with a client who is certifiably depressed. One of my bosses told me they would feel better about giving me the clients if I would just complain about it. However, I really don't mind.
It is now your turn. Tell me everything. It would be nice if you would share something with us that none of us know about you. Part of getting to know you. I may of told some of you this before but I collect music boxes. OK, go - it doesn't matter how long your post is. Share with us what you would like to.

Can't think of anything about me that I'm willing to reveal that hasn't been written about in my journal over the past 9 years.
I'm getting ready to head out for Santa Barbara by way of my mother's, taking her for her pre-op visits. Then the 8 yrs drive to SB so I can help decorate the grandbaby's birthday cake tomorrow.
Party on the beach for 50 families and kids for Bri's birthday--I wonder if she'll notice the crowd!
I'm so sorry about your brother-in-law's mum's passing.
And I'm glad you're doing so well at work.
As for my update, where did I leave off last week? Dad's colonscopy right? Well, they tried to do it for at least three days in a row. The first two days, they started on it but then aborted it, saying that there was no stool formation to look at.
They finally went through with it this morning. Dad last had a colonscopy about two or three years ago, and they found some polyps but nothing to really worry about. This time, they found a lump, a bit "meaty", mum said that was how the doctor described it to her, and it was removed. They will now biopsy it and we won't know the results till a couple of weeks' time.
In the meantime, Dad is resting up well and after the weekend, is expected to be moved to a step-down care facility.
I'm feeling better after ten miserable days of this sinus/cold virus thing. Amazing what a prednisone dose-pack will do for you.
PBS Program note: The three new episodes of the Antiques Road Show that were filmed in Chattanooga last summer will premiere next Monday, 30 March. Episodes #2 and 3 will be on the following two Monday nights. Check your local listing. Nothing we took warranted filming, but we might show up in one of the crowd shots or backgrounds.
Sorry about your BIL's mom, but it does sound like more of a blessing than a tragedy. I hope his sadness is tempered by knowing that, and that he recovers quickly.
I'll just bet you're exhausted! Your typical day would sure exhaust me. I'm not a bit surprised that your new bosses totally trust you now, and give you their problem clients. I'm just glad you don't mind getting them.
Snug, here's hoping your dad's biopsy will show nothing worrisome!
Not much to report this week, which is probably a good thing. My mom's new insurance card came through, so we can schedule with the new doc any time after 4/1. Nothing emergency there, we'll just need some Rx's written, and will see if he can arrange for her to get a hospital-type bed again through Medicare.
I'll be dealing with some dental problems that I've put off far too long, so that's kind of depressing. We have another local election that I'm scheduled to work on early in April, and daughter and SIL will visit right after that, so I'm hoping to put off the dental work just a little longer to avoid that time. Don't want to be limited in chewing ability when there are people to go out to dinner with.
Bill, sorry to hear of your Brother Bob in-law's, mother passing. Even when you know in your heart when they are that bad it can be a blessing, it is still sad to lose your parent. I will keep him and you in my prayers and thoughts.
I think your mother sure has a nice, kind and caring son. How nice to do that for her.
Snug, sorry to hear about your dad, but hoping and praying it won't be anything to worry about.
Glad he is resting ok so far.
Mary, Glad you are feeling better, I know what you mean as I am just getting over something that sounds the same. I always watch Antique Roadshow, love the show, and will be looking for you in the crowds.
Now if I only knew what you looked like..:)
As for something maybe none of you know about me.....I collect Wall Pockets.
Bill, sorry to hear about your b-i-l's mom passing. Even when we know it's coming, even when we know they're probably happier leaving a world that no longer "fits" them, it's hard to be left behind. Prayers coming for all of you.
Not surprised you're getting the "problem" clients, given your ability to deal with them. What fun that you could show your mom the paper with photos and blurb. I'll bet she really enjoyed that.
Of course you're exhausted. You're a caregiver with a consicence and compassion!
Snug, I somehow missed the bit about your dad having to have a colonoscopy. I'll keep him and you and your mom in my prayers and hope the report comes back clear
It's been an interesting, if scattered week here. A pool part broke over the weekend and the water was 77 degrees on Tuesday, but my hardiest folks toughed it out. The replacement part was defective and the temp was 74 degrees on Thursday and I cancelled class, standing at the entrance to turn away students. All of this resulted in a bit of a political brouhaha, of course, but I think we actually got that straightened out a bit when Scott and I were sorta forced into a face-to-face discussion Thursday. Seems they've got things fixed today.
Lots of running for Mom and gathering stuff to send to AZ, as her visit keeps getting extended. I finally forced the issue Weds nite and an email to all sibs on Thursday said the decision was Mom would move to Phoneix. When? How? Planning? None in evidence, just a decision as to destination, while I deal with the apt mgr who wants assessment forms and I can't tell her Mom's moving, becuase we want to go month to month, if she's not out by 6/1 and, given Deb's garbeled comments, God only knows when what is going to happen. I may have to turn in my caregiver's union card come summer. Right now it's all at sixes and sevens (and I thought once the decision was made, things would get easier!) so I may be a babbling idiot until all is resolved.
Ping's hubby took videos of our line dance exhibition at the mall and our instructor is going to see if she can get it up on YouTube. If she does, I'll let you know, so you can see why I so look forward to my Wednesday afternoon escapes. Since this is the first time we've seen ourselves perform, we were all (pardon the egotims) somewhat amazed at how good we looked.
Oh, given issues surrounding trying to play above DVD (Ping brought us each a copy) and Himself looking carefully at my system, he's decided I need to upgrade. This doesn't fill my heart with joy, as it involves first cleaning up files, second backup and -argghhh - dealing with Vista. I keep hoping there's another option. Stay tuned (wry s)
Bev
Wow fifty families! I bet the grandbaby coos for everyone!
Bill
Hi Snug
You are still dealing with to damn much and I am going to continue praying until your dad is safely home and you and your Mom can rest.
I'm really hoping that the lump will not be cancerous. Please let us know when they get the results.
Hugs Snug
Bill
Hi Mary Z
I didn't start recovering from my bronchitis until a z-back. And even then the crud hung on for three week. Really glad you are feeling better.
Were you on the Antique road show? If show what did you have valued so we can look for you.
Bill
Hi Pat
I talked to my BIL just a little while ago and he was doing fine. Sad but fine. The memorial was today but he did get see his grandbaby that he hadn't seen before so that it a good thing.
YEA about the new insurance coming through what a battle that has been. I hope they will give your mom a hospital type bed.
Sorry about your dental problems. Maybe the cure won't be as bad as it sounds. I also hope this election goes easier than the last one. And the visit goes well with your daughter and SIL.
Bill
Hi Dona
What are wall pockets?
Sorry you are sick also and hope you are not just getting over it but are getting extremely well!
Bill
Hi Dr
I am sorry your were forced into a face-to-face with Scott but am very happy it resulted in a solution.
Are you happy or disappointed that the Arizona trips keep getting extended?
How frustrating now being able to know what to do with your mom's apartment. Turn in your caregiver card now and let them deal with it.
And you can babble here any time you want and you never sound like an idiot.
If the line dancing gets on you tube you darn well better post the link here.
I'm betting that Himself will set you up with a new system and the tranistion will be easy!
Bill
Nothing we took to the Road Show was good enough to make it on camera, and probably we won't be seen at all. But it was a fun experience.
Hi Mary Z
Well shoot we wanted to see you on national TV!
Bill
Bill - sorry about your b-i-ls mom passing but it sounds like it was a release in a way. Though difficult for family to deal with. Your schedule sounds exhausting and I certainly couldn't deal with it! Nice that the folk at work really trust you to deal with all the - um - interesting clients!
DR - my neighbour is using the latest beta version of Windows - maybe called Windows 7? It's a whole lot better than Vista apparently. But it IS still in beta version so maybe not something you want to try on your pc yet.
So long as the AZ trip brings some positive results, I'm pleased. We won't really know much about the sinus unti the CT scan and I've not yet heard what they found out from the pulmonary guy on Thursday.
It's a relief to have a decision, but a bit of planning and scheduling would be nice. In some ways, I'd like to turn in my caregiver card now, but it ain't gonna happen until Mom's moved and settled, especially since Deb is still talking about doing the allergy tests and knee replacement here. I'm not sure what part of "mgt can also give 30 days notice" she doesn't understand, particularly if they have someone waiting for a handicapped apt. My current mission is to answer questions, make/change app'ts and try to make them understand paperwork must be turned in to the apt, if they want to play games. Ergo, I've a lot less to deal with than the rest of you!
It'll all work out. Himself reminds me, "We live to serve and we end up picking up the pieces," so I just go with that.
Hi Sian
It is always a pleasure when you have time to post!
Interesting clients is an interesting way to put it! One of the good things about the firm that I work at is both bosses have a sense of humor. I love that part of the job.
Bill
Hi Dr
Please let us know about how all the tests re your mom come out!
Not scheduling anything would drive me nuts.
Your current mission sounds almost as busy as your previous mission?
I love Himself's attitude.
Bill
The respiratory tests came out great -- Mom scored way above average, so her lungs are strong. The doc said lisinipril can cause coughing, but he thinks it's mostly the sinus infection and doesn't want to take her off that and use something else, given her heart history, because the lisinpril is the best there is.
Now, we wait until the 10th to see what the CT scan shows on the sinuses, after a month of treatment. Everything else remains up in the air, including whether she's going to see an allergist out there before she comes home, see one here or wait to see one after she moves.
Yes, not planning is uncomfortable for me, when a decision's been made and it requires certain steps for implementation. Yes, I do seem to spend a good deal of time with phone calls and running around, but it's good to stay in practice, because I have a feeling things are going to be a bit crazy, if and when Mom does return (wry s).
Hi Dr
Yea re the resp tests! I will keep praying for the best of reports for the CT scan and hope the find out what is causing the sinus infection and they have a cure for it!
I'm betting your mom will return!
Bill
