The Golden Globes

Tonight is the Golden Globe awards. Last year due to a strike we didn't really get the Globe show so this is the first one in two years. Often the Globes predict the outcome of the Oscars. I love award shows. Love the glitz. Love the glamor. I even love watching the Red Carpet before the shows. I will be glued to the TV from about four o'clock on. Love the men often dressing inappropriately not even wearing a tie, showing a tremendous lack of respect towards those that promote them and award them. Love the women making every effort to be what they want to be instead of accepting who they are. Spray tans, enhanced cleavage with a myriad of tricks. While some men may go ape over the tans and the cleavage I don't. It just humors me. I think a woman is much sexier with wet hair, pajama bottoms, and a top then she is with a phony tan and more cleavage than humanly possible. Because that is who she is and that is who I would prefer to be with. There is just something bothersome to me when a woman has a spray tan, enhanced cleavage, a wig and then tells me she is afraid I'm not who I say I am. Boggles the mind.

I love some of the acceptance speaches. The touching ones are always my favorite. I'm sure there are going to be some touching moments tonight, especially when Heath Ledger wins the award for best supporting actor.

I also love to dream. That against all odds my book, "Searching For Justice", is published made into a movie, and nominated for an award. Then we get a special table at the Globes for all my relatives, Section 16 and blog friends and have a ball! However, if you are at my table no spray tans allowed, maybe some cleavage but no spray tans.

I love Amy Adams. I think you're right about who should win and who will win in the Best Supporting actress catagory

It's going to be a long night for me. "24" starts tonight too, at the same time, so I'll have to watch the GG until 11 and then see if I can stay awake 2 more hours to watch "24"!

I'm just hoping that Sean Pean takes the award. I haven't seen all that many of the nominees, but thought he was fantastic.

Hello Amy Adams Fan

Welcome to the blog. I love Adams too. A rare talent that takes different roles. Gone Baby Gone and Charlie Wilson's War were about as different of roles as they get.

Hi Bev

I haven't got into 24 but my sis is way into it.

I would like Penn to win also, for a number of reason, not the least of what the director of Milk lives in Portland.

I've seen very few of the movies, so I won't weigh in on those, but here are just a few opinions that are not necessarily based on seeing the pictures. I hope Frank Langella wins because I've always liked him and I admire the way he moved from heartthrob into character roles. I did see MILK, and Penn was great, so I won't mind if he wins. I think you're wrong about Streep and MAMMA MIA. Nobody liked the movie much, or at least I didn't and nobody I talked to did. I don't remember what the reviewers said. Haven't seen DOUBT yet, but it looks very good from the promos.

For TV, I think Tina Fey is a shoo-in, more for her Sarah Palin than for the show, though I love 30 ROCK and I hope it wins and I hope Alec Baldwin wins, too.

Hi Pat

Between now and Oscar night I plan on seeing all the nominated films and big roles.

I like Langella too and from all reports he did great as Nixon.

I knew of several people that liked Mama Mia and the others just didn't strike my fancy. We should bet lunch on it!

Tina Fey is a shoo-in, that we can agree on. I also love 30 Rock.

Can't weight in on the GGs, as I haven't yet seen most of the films, but will be interested in seeing how your picks match the awards, bill.
