Sundays are for updates:

I pretty much gave you an update on life all week. A short one today. Mom is doing really well this morning so I can breath easy. Today I am kind of relaxing. It is really amazing how exhausting those spells were for me. I just recovered from a visit from Mark and then Mom kind of declined. I am recharging batteries today and just reading and TV surfing.

If you would like to post an update I am all ears. This is your blog day so post whatever you want.

Halloween

I want to ask for prayers and good vibes for Dona and her husband, Frank, also known as The Shankster. His brother passed away on Thursday. I know they would appreciate you keeping them in your thoughts and prayers.

Halloween is Monday. It is the kind of holiday I like some and don't like some. The part I like is handing out candy to the trick or treaters. I hand out the full sized bars because I just love the "wow" reactions of the young ones. The part I don't like is when Halloween is here that means one of my two least favorite days of the years isn't far behind. You know the day? Spring forward, fall back. Next Saturday night is the atrocious night when you turn your clocks back one hour. Aren't you excited?

Speaking of Candy the Oregonian had a candy off. A bracket of all the famous candies play against each other. Want to know what candy won?

Here is how the bracket began:

What is Halloween with out haunted houses?

Off The Shelf

Mom is doing better and hasn't had one of the spells for a day but she really isn't back to normal so we are keeping her under constant watch. Yesterday the incident I referred to was she was sitting in the middle of her bedroom in her wheelchair not having a clue where she was. It was in the morning so I thought she might have taken to much pain medication during the night. The only way to figure that out is to keep her under watch for a few days. No more incidents and sister and I can breath a little easier.

Just miscellaneous off the shelf stuff. Articles I've been holding for a while.

First let's look in the mirror:

She was succeeded after her resignation in 1996 by Thorsten Jagland, also of the Labor Party, in October 1996. In 1993 She formed and chaired the World Commission on Environmental Development, and received a 2004 Blue Planet Prize for her promotion of sustainable development. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Scary experience with Mom yesterday. She didn't know where she was. It is so damn hard to watch her decline. I am going to beat her a Scrabble today maybe that will get her mind going. On to today's entry.

Trips

Today is all about trips. First let's look at some beautiful fall colors by taking a trip around the U.S:

http://quest.mapquest.com/2011/10/03/autumn-leaves-fall-foliage-leafquest_n_992136.html?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-nb%7Cdl19%7Csec1_lnk2%7C107434

The colors are really stunning here in Oregon, how are they where you live?
Now let's take a trip to the past:

http://www.gadling.com/2011/10/20/photo-gallery-abandoned-americana/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-nb%7Cdl14%7Csec1_lnk2%7C107351

There actually is a drive-in theater eight miles from where I live. When we were kids every Saturday night we would go out for a burger, shake, and fries then go home to get in our pajamas and then get in are old woody station wagon and head out with a pretty big bag of popcorn to the drive-in theater.

Now let's shoot into outer space:

Judy Chicago authored yesterday's quote. "There are two kinds of restrictions upon human liberty -- the restraint of law and that of custom. No written law has ever been more binding than unwritten custom supported by public opinion" was authored by a leader in the women's suffrage movement in its last years (leading the more "conservative" faction), was also the founder of the League of Women Voters after suffrage was won, and a founder of the Women's Peace Party during World War I. She was born in 1859 and died in 1947. In 1933 in response to Adolf Hitler's rise to power in which he used the Jewish race as a scapegoat for Germany's worst problems, she organized the Protest Committee of Non-Jewish Women Against the Persecution of Jews in Germany. This group gathered 9,000 signatures of non-Jewish American women and attached these to a letter of protest sent to Hitler in August 1933. The letter decried acts of violence and restrictive laws against German Jews. She pressured the U.S. government to ease immigration laws so that Jews could more easily take refuge in America. For her efforts, She became the first woman to receive the American Hebrew Medal. Who authored today's quote?

Pema Chodron authored yesterday's quote. "I believe in art that is connected to real human feeling, that extends itself beyond the limits of the art world to embrace all people who are striving for alternatives in an increasingly dehumanized world. I am trying to make art that relates to the deepest and most mythic concerns of human kind and I believe that, at this moment of history, feminism is humanism" was authored by a woman born in 1939 who achieved prominence with "The Dinner Party" which celebrated women's achievements and lesser-known women of history. Pictures, Stings, & Glass

Nothing planned today for the first time in eight days. So I am just going to clear off my desk. Schedule my education. Order next year's tax program. Get my rewards from Walgren's. Vote by mail. Pay bills. Write a defense of a ticket I received from a red light camera. Do an online AAA rewards for Mom. Work on the books of a client. Watch last night's episodes of The Good Wife and The Amazing Race. Pick up my drugs. Grocery shop. A normal day.

The Statue of Liberty is going to start having a different kind of day, moving on beyond the normal:

Robots, Dishwashers, & Questions

Not much going on today. Just got back from the car doctor. They didn't have the needed parts when I was there last week so had to saunter on back their this morning. Now I am waiting for the Oregon-Colorado football game. That leaves a window to post an entry..

Let's start out with a good news type of article:

http://gma.yahoo.com/robots-help-children-autism-185948231.html

Did you ever read an article and have the reaction, "crap I've been doing that wrong for years"? I've been putting knifes in the dishwasher for years.:

Friday Is For Recovering.

Yesterday was pretty stressful. Let's get the negative out of the way first. Mark is struggling. He had lost a lot of weight and didn't look all the well. He is in depression in my humble opinion. The reason for this trip was twofold. He is going to Palm Springs for the winter. While there he is going to reconnect with his doctor. I really hope they give him a complete physical. Since Portland is on the way from Vashon Island to Palm Springs he stopped here. I don't remember if I mentioned this before but before his wife died the two of them made me the executor of their estate. When they lived here in Portland they rented three deposit boxes. Large ones. Since large boxes are readily available here they have kept the boxes here. He stopped here basically so we could go to the bank and take Sandra's name off of the boxes and put mine on. It was really kind of a final thing where Sandra is concerned. After we got that done, Mark, Mom, and I went to Claim Jumper for a really nice lunch. Mark ate like a horse. It was good to see him eat. I think what has happened is that he was used to have company for meals and now doesn't so when he is alone he just doesn't eat. I wish I didn't have this creepy feeling that he isn't long for the world. Prayers and good vibes are always appreciated.

Now on to left stressful things, articles about the good and weird today. No thinking required. I was on the go all day yesterday, following are the best places to be when you are on the go:

http://news.yahoo.com/chicago-museum-toilet-number-one-190915619.html

After a stressful day you might want to just sit down and have a good meal:

http://news.yahoo.com/supersize-restaurant-offers-338-pound-burger-130601169.html;_ylt=AihoyNUHxibAmppgD1OUToms0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTN2OXBqZWh1BG1pdANPZGQgRnJvbnQgUGFnZQRwa2cDYzJkZTUwMmQtYTNlYS0zMzk4LTgwYTUtOTYyZjYwNGI2YmU4BHBvcwMxBHNlYwNNZWRpYVNlY3Rpb25MaXN0BHZlcgM4NmMxZjQ3MC1mYmU3LTExZTAtYjNjYS02MjQ1ZWU5ZGU5MWY-;_ylg=X3oDMTFpNzk0NjhtBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdANob21lBHB0A3NlY3Rpb25z;_ylv=3

After being on the go and then having a nice filling meal, how about a little music?

There is a link in the article that will take you to videos to listen to the music.

Madame de Staƫl authored yesterday's quote. " Wen we abolish the slavery of half of humanity, together with the whole system of hypocrisy it implies, then the "division" of humanity will reveal its genuine significance and the human couple will find its true form." was authored by a woman born in 1908 and died in 1986. She was a writer on feminism and existentialism. She also wrote novels. Her book "THE SECOND SEX is a feminist classic. It is based on the idea that, while men and women may have different tendencies, each person is unique, and it is culture which has enforced a uniform set of expectations of what is "feminine," as contrasted to what is "human" which is equated with what is male. She argued that women can free themselves, through individual decisions and collective action. It could be said of a member of the second sex that SHE CAME TO STAY? Firings.

At Mom's today looking forward to dinner out and fixing lunch for her at home. Most likely a few games of Scrabble are in there somewhere. Today on the blog we are talking about firings. People that should be fired and people that shouldn't have been fired.

First up someone should be fired. Who cares where the money came from? Look how many people a half of million could help?

http://www.aol.com/2011/10/17/american-cancer-society-atheists_n_1015593.html?1318878155&icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-nb%7Cdl16%7Csec3_lnk1%7C105069

Next up is man that should have never been fired, instead he should have been celebrated for serving his country:

http://jobs.aol.com/articles/2011/10/17/iraq-war-veteran-fired-for-wearing-american-flag-lapel-pin/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-sb-nb%7Cdl8%7Csec3_lnk2%7C105096

Next up I'm not sure if the guy should have been fired or not. His explanation doesn't make sense. Also remember Walmart lost a major lawsuit that cost them millions for not paying overtime.

Signs

I think I am ready to head out for three days at Mom's including a visit on Thursday from my friend Mark. I've written today's entry and quote question soon to be posted. Tomorrow's entry and quote question set to be posted tomorrow Morning (on the blog you can set posts to be posted at a future date) and Thursday's reminder of no blog entry and quote question to be posted Thursday morning. I haven't done Friday's entry yet but since a relative/client will be visiting Friday morning you may not see an entry on Friday until the afternoon.

Today we are about signs. First up is a sign of our economy:

http://gma.yahoo.com/wrinkle-hiring-older-workers-taking-kids-temp-jobs-155743491.html

I don't know about this trend but I think I like it. I am of the opinion that us older dudes and ladies have a much better work ethic than the younger ones and maybe that goes into why we are taking over the temporary jobs.

Next up is a sign that we should all move to South Carolina and bug DR to take us places, especially the place in the following article:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/16/kershaw-south-carolina-gold_n_1013920.html?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-nb%7Cdl13%7Csec1_lnk2%7C1049

I am going out right now to look for a shovel and a good deal on airline tickets!

Next up is a sign that young kids need to be careful and their parents need to be more aware:

http://realestate.aol.com/blog/2011/10/14/teenager-owes-600-000-in-mortgage-loans-after-id-theft/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-sb-nb%7Cdl13%7Csec1_lnk2%7C104900

It always makes me angry when scam artists take advantage of the innocent or the elderly.

Yesterday's quote was authored by Annie Dillard. "We meet no Stranger, but Ourselves." Was an authored by a poet born in 1830 and dying to young in 1886. Reclusive during her lifetime she wrote poetry which she kept private and which was, with few exceptions, unknown until its discovery after her death. Most of the poems were written in just six years, between 1858 and 1864. She bound them into small volumes she called fascicles, and forty of these were found in her room at her death. To find out this famous poet you would have to know that her writings were described as "Bawdy: Shakespeare and Sexual Symbolism." Find out more about that description and you can tell me who authored today's quote.

Damn It's Monday

Apparently the world is kind of grouchy today because I couldn't find any fun or non-controversial articles in all the places I normally look. So first up is a non-controversial subject, global warming:

That is, I don't think I can learn from a wild animal how to live in particular...but I might learn something of mindlessness, something of the purity of living in the physical senses and the dignity of living without bias or motive." was authored by a woman known for writing poems, essays, and novels. Her best-known work, perhaps, is nature-themed PILGRAM AT TINKER CREEK which has often been compared to the writing of Henry David Thoreau and which she has described as a "book of theology." Her AN AMERICAN CHILDHOOD tells the story of her early years and her later often have the theme of nature. She was born in 1945.

Sunday Good Vibes & Prayers

Has anyone heard anymore from Dona?

This is going to be a very busy week and this Thursday there will not be a blog entry. Thursday my friend Mark is coming down from Vashon Island. He is going down to Palm Springs for a medical checkup with his prostate cancer. After his wife died I was made executor of his estate. He has some safe deposit boxes in the Portland area and he is stopping her to put my name on his safe deposit boxes. He isn't going to stay overnight, just spend the day with Mom and I, take care of business and then head on down the freeway. The last time I talked to him he really didn't sound all that great and I am really worried about him. It will be nice to see him. But Thursday is for him and in my mind he is more important than the blog so no entry on Thursday.

Monday my car goes to the garage. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday are at Mom's. Friday a client is coming up from Albany (about 70 miles from here). There will be a blog entry on Friday but it may be in the afternoon.

I am asking for more prayers and good thoughts for a friend. My friend Doug found out Friday that his Mom has late stage colon cancer. His mom is only 70. So anything you can muster to send his and her way is extremely appreciated.

Now on to today's entry.

The following article makes me just shake my head. It really wasn't a story until those in charge made it one by banning an appropriate saying for a fundraiser:

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/cheerleaders-chastised-inappropriate-breast-cancer-t-shirts-222837009.html

The good thing is that once the story got out people from all over donated to the cheerleaders.

The following article is for dog owners with some advise on how to make your little loved ones safe for Halloween:

http://www.pawnation.com/2011/10/06/6-ways-to-make-halloween-safe-and-fun-for-your-dog/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-sb-nb%7Cdl7%7Csec1_lnk2%7C104618

That's all for today. If you have any concerns about yourself, your friends or relatives share them here. We are ready with prayers and good thoughts.

Houses

Isadora Duncan authored yesterday's quote.

Today is nothing but houses. First up, if you live in glass houses you shouldn't throw stones:

http://bottomline.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/10/11/8210666-listing-of-the-week-upping-the-class-in-an-all-glass-home

It looks like a beautiful home but I'm not a fan of glass houses and not really ready to put 20 mil into one.

I've really never been called a wild thing. Well, at least not for the last twenty years or so. Wild things is what this house is called:

http://realestate.aol.com/blog/2011/10/14/house-of-the-day-where-the-wild-things-are/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-sb-nb%7Cdl10%7Csec3_lnk2%7C104316

I love the house and love the view but I am not sure I would want to take care of the grounds!

Let's move on to affordable homes:

http://realestate.aol.com/blog/2011/10/13/open-houses-of-the-week-markets-on-the-rise/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-sb-nb%7Cdl10%7Csec1_lnk2%7C104316

I really like the one in Boise and the other one in Indiana.

Finds

Long day yesterday. I was going from 4:30 in the morning until I got home at ten last night and crashed. The movie IDES OF MARCH was a great story and very well acted but if politics is really like that we are in big trouble. No integrity anywhere.

Doing finds today, I wish I would have been the one doing the finding in the first article:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/10/18-million-silver-shipwreck_n_1003806.html?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-sb-nb%7Cdl10%7Csec1_lnk2%7C103220

I'm not sure of the significance of the find in the next article but is seemed like an interesting story:

http://news.yahoo.com/ancient-art-supplies-found-south-african-cave-182951176.html

Next find is a very unique vacuum cleaner.

Andrea Dworkin authored yesterday's quote. "The finest inheritance you can give to a child is to allow it to make its own way, completely on its own feet." Was authored by a an American dancer who rejected classical ballet forms for more natural movements of interpretive dance, which later evolved into modern dance. She first found fame in Europe which received her more readily. Her personal life was also unconventional and scandalous, including a dramatic death. She was born in 1877. She died in 1927 of accidental strangulation when a long scarf she was wearing became caught in the rear wheel of the car she was riding in. Shortly after her death, her autobiography came out, MY LIFE. She knew the ART OF DANCE. If you know the art of dance, you can tell me who authored today's quote.

Mishmash

I spent last night at Mom's and I will be spending the day there and then leaving about 7 to meet up with Nancie for the movie, THE IDES OF MARCH. A mishmash kind of day so we are having a mishmash kind of day.

I really found the following article interesting:

I found the following article really disturbing:

Nothing but good news in the following article:

QUOTE

Marian Wright Edelman authored yesterday's quote. "Men who want to support women in our struggle for freedom and justice should understand that it is not terrifically important to us that they learn to cry; it is important to us that they stop the crimes of violence against us." Was authored by a radical feminist whose early activism including working against the Vietnam War, became a strong voice for the position that pornography is a tool by which men control, objectify, and subjugate women. With Catherine MacKinnon, she helped draft a Minnesota ordinance that did not outlaw pornography but allowed victims of rape and other sexual crimes to sue pornographers for damage, under the logic that the culture created by pornography supported sexual violence against women. She was born in 1946 and died in 2005. Did you read about PORNOGRAPHY: MEN POSSESSING WOMAN? If you have you can tell me who authored today's quote.

Good Or Bad Story.

Today we are playing good story or bad story.

http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local/orange_county&id=8386814

I think the story is kind of sad, while I see the humor in it, I am a little concerned that some ended up in the hospital. I'm going with a good story with a bad ending.

http://www.cbsnews.com/2300-204_162-10009740.html?tag=cbsnewsSectionContent.8

It is informative but it is sad that so many people feel the need to take drugs and drive. I'm going with a informative story which makes it a good story but one with a potential very bad ending.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/10/halloween-travel-a-tour-o_n_998775.html?&icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-sb-nb%7Cdl12%7Csec1_lnk2%7C103031

A three dollar tour. I wouldn't take the tour so I would say it is an unnecessary story which makes it a bad story.

Queen Elizabeth I of England authored yesterday's quote. "Service is the rent we pay to be living. It is the very purpose of life and not something you do in your spare time." Was authored by the founder and President of the Children's Defense Fund, was the first African American woman admitted to the Mississippi state bar. She has published her ideas in several books. The Measure of Our Success: A Letter to My Children and Yours was a surprising success. She was born in 1939. Who authored today's quote?

Linda Ellerbe authored yesterday's quote. "Monarchs ought to put to death the authors and instigators of war, as their sworn enemies and as dangers to their states." Was authored by the last of the Tudor monarchs. She was Henry and Anne's daughter. She reigned from 1558 until her death, and her early years were subject to much concern whether she would succeed -- or even survive. She was born in 1533 and died in 1603. She was known as The Virgin Queen, Glorianna, and Good Queen Bess. Who authored today's quote?

Columbus Day

Today is a Columbus Day, a holiday. I wouldn't even had known had I not read the paper this morning. No banking, no mail delivery, and all government offices closed. What do you know about Columbus? What is fact and what is fiction?

Quote.

"If men can run the world, why can't they stop wearing neckties?" was authored by an American journalist who is most known for several jobs at NBC News, including Washington, DC correspondent, host of the Nickelodeon network's Nick News, and reporter and co-anchor of NBC News Overnight, which was recognized by the jurors of the duPont Columbia Awards as "possibly the best written and most intelligent news program ever." Born in 1944 in her own words here is her life; "I moved around some, married some, had two babies, worked for three radio stations, one of which hired me to read the news because I sounded black - my Texas heritage - and the black woman it had hired did not.... In radio, I learned about keeping logs, editing audiotape, writing copy, selling air time, announcing, and "running a board," which sounds one hell of a lot more sporting than it is." Feeling Like An Update.

I am feeling like an update today so here goes.

Last week: Sunday - Mom to lunch. Monday - hand reflexology from Nancie and dinner afterwards. The reflexology was different but I would have to try it a couple of times before noticing if it helped. Dinner was great. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were at Mom's. Mom & I went to dinner on Tuesday & lunch on Wednesday.
On Thursday my sister and her husband took mom to dinner for Chinese food. They did that because I wanted to get home early in time to watch the Oregon Ducks play the California Bears. Ducks trounced the Bears but lost their best player to injury. Friday it was cleaning house to get ready for my new living room set to be delivered by sister and husband on Saturday. I even got down on my knees and cleaned the kitchen and bathroom floors. Saturday it was mowing the lawn and then help my sister and her husband move stuff around my living room. Here are the pictures. All the lamps, tables and the couch are new. The chair and the love seat are hangovers.

The picture as you enter the house from the front door:

Entering the house from the back door:

Coming up next week. Today is taking her lunch and bringing her out her to see the new arrangement. Then is working on Mom's books. Monday is finisihing the aforementioned books and then do the shopping and taking my bottles back. Tuesday is a movie. Wednesday and Thursday is at Mom's. Thursday night if all the stars align after the day at Mom's Nancie and I are going to the 7:45 PM showing of THE IDES OF MARCH. That really is past my bed time so Friday I will be sleeping in! Saturday it is Mom to lunch.

OK, it has been a while so lets hear your updates. Maybe Dona will check-in. I've been worried about her and The Shanksters.

The blog is now yours. Post anything you damn well please.

Bosses, Good Dudes, & Cars.

Susan Fauldi was the author of yesterday's quote.

Healthy Friday

On the agenda today is cleaning house. I am doing a mini remodel. Well a mini living room rearrangement. New furniture and lights. It was sister's idea and she is pretty forceful. However, after seeing what she bought I am very exited about the new living room. She is bringing the new stuff over tomorrow so I want to have things in order before she gets here. Already got the garage clean.

Today is healthy Friday. Stories about health today. First up is congratulations on a happy and healthy baby:

Myrlie Evers authored yesterday's quote. "Feminism's agenda is basic: It asks that women not be forced to "choose" between public justice and private happiness. It asks that women be free to define themselves -- instead of having their identity defined for them, time and again, by their culture and their men." Was authored by a woman born in 1959. She is a journalist who wrote BACKLASH: THE UNDECLARED WAR AGAINST WOMEN which argued that feminism and women's rights were undermined by the media and corporations -- just as the previous wave of feminism lost ground to a previous version of backlash, convincing women that feminism and not inequality was the source of their frustration. Going For A Walk.

Third day of playing the dutiful soon. Tomorrow I am going play the lazy son and just stay home all day or go to a movie. Or maybe I will go for a walk:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/03/jean-bliveau-nears-walks-the-world_n_992696.html?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-nb%7Cdl12%7Csec1_lnk2%7C101196

Eleven years is a long time for a walk but I really admire the man for having a goal and sticking to it.

On the walk I am going to stop by all the police stations on the way and give them a copy of the following article:

http://redtape.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/10/03/8124410-stealing-elderly-parents-identities-a-hidden-common-crime

This is just tragic. What a way to treat your parents.

On the walk I am not going to mind it if I see prison clean up crews out and about. The ones where the prisoners do their community service. Not only am I not going to mind, I might just feel a little safer:

She met him when they were students at Alcorn A&M College in 1950. They married on December 24, 1951, and she left school before finishing her degree. Being Schooled.

Second Day at Mom's. Looking forward to being home early tomorrow. I am going to try to get home by six in time to watch the Oregon-California game.

Today we are going to school. First up is a school where you can't say bless you:

Finally we are closing with a little geology. I hated Geology in college but you had to take it in college to graduate. Even accounting students had to take it. That was so if while we were sitting at out desks someone threw a rock through the window we could identify the rock. But now that I have grown up a bit I can of like to look at geological formations. Like the stunning ones in the following article:

Why this man didn't ask himself, maybe I shouldn't do this because it might embarrass someone is very puzzling. He really is a magician he made common sense disappear.

The woman in the above story deserved her privacy and so do we. However, the following story leaves some doubt on whether we really do have privacy:

Monday, Monday.

Hope you are having a good start of the week. This is a busy week for me. This afternoon is an appointment for hand reflexology with Nancie, She is trying to get certified in hand reflexology and has to perform twenty procedures before she is licensed. I am one of the twenty. We are going out to dinner afterwards. Since she can't charge for the hand reflexology dinner is on me. Then I leave for Mom's tomorrow at one and am there until six thirty Thursday night.

"When not one man, in the million, shall I say? no, not in the hundred million, can rise above the belief that Woman was made for Man, — when such traits as these are daily forced upon the attention, can we feel that Man will always do justice to the interests of Woman? Can we think that he takes a sufficiently discerning and religious view of her office and destiny ever to do her justice, except when prompted by sentiment — accidentally or transiently?" Was authored by an American writer, journalist, and philosopher, was part of the Transcendentalist circle. Her "conversations" encouraged the women of Boston to develop their intellectual capacities. In 1845 she published WOMAN IN THE NINETEENTH CENTURY, now considered an early feminist classic. She married in Italy while covering the Roman Revolution, had a child, and was drowned with her husband and daughter on their return to America in a shipwreck just off shore. An Elite Sunday

Hope you guys are having a great Sunday. I decided I didn't really want to go out to breakfast with the boys today so I am having a very unhurried relaxing Sunday morning. Just finished the morning paper and now am doing my blog entry.

Yesterday when I was shopping at Safeway I was in the checkout line when the manager pulled my aside. "Mr. Dahn we appreciate your business. You are considered a Safeway "elite shopper" and here is a coupon for a free loaf of Artesian French bread." Am I spending to much money at Safeway? An elite shopper, that means they have to be nice to me, right?

Since this is kind of a relaxing Sunday with kind of rainy weather outside it is what I call a reading day. However, I guess I am not supposed to read books that are on the following list:

http://news.yahoo.com/top-10-challenged-books-2010-225300801.html;_ylt=Ag59EtpxpLNkoQ0QeVwUjDSs0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTNtdHBxYTFkBG1pdANUb3BTdG9yeSBGUARwa2cDOTQ5NDg3YTctZTYxZS0zODgxLTg5YmUtMGQ3YTMwN2VjOWZjBHBvcwMxNARzZWMDdG9wX3N0b3J5BHZlcgNhMDY3NzhhMC1lNGE0LTExZTAtYjUyZi1lMDUzZDMzYjIxYWY-;_ylg=X3oDMTFpNzk0NjhtBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdANob21lBHB0A3NlY3Rpb25z;_ylv=3

Are you surprised by any of the books on the list? I am surprised by all of them because I just don't think any books should be banned.

The weather is supposed to perk up later today so open houses are on the agenda.

It looks like if I become an elite lottery winner I will be moving to Paradise Valley, Arizona or the Southern California coast.

Saturday Stories

Heading over to Mom's to do her books and work on her estate but thought I would post an entry before leaving. Charlotte Perkins Gilman authored yesterday's quote.
We keep hearing how homelessness is increasing. That is probably true in most states, just not the one in the following article:

If Utah can do it, why can't other states do the same?

What do you think of marital contracts? Instead of death do us part, how about "I promise to keep the marital vows for two years"?

With more than half the first marriages ending in divorce, I am open to timed contracts for marriage, you?

Ever attended an auction? Ever look to buy things on the cheap? Check out who might have some things for you to buy at a reasonable price:

I might be interested in a island or two.
