Just a shout out to a couple of movies and actors that didn't get nominated. GRAN TORINO was as good as any of the nominated films and Clint Eastwood's performance in it deserved a best actor nod. DEFIANCE was another good movie that should have received more nominations. Michael Sheen's performance in FROST/NIXON was worthy of a best supporting actor nod.

Hope this is a five star day for all of you and that your day is filled with entetainment and awards from all those in your life!

Interesting that you don't give the nod to Mickey Rourke, who seems to have taken just about every best actor award this year. My heart is with Penn. It will be interesting to see if they'll go for a great performance about an important gay leader or a great come-back story!

Hi Bev

After Rourke's performance at the Independent Spirit Awards yesterday even if I thought he would win I wouldn't pick him. He was a disgrace to himself, his profession, his gender, his friends, to television, to his co-actors and actresses in The Wrestler, to his agent, to his family and the list goes one.

I don't want him to win. I don't want him on stage. I don't want him on TV.

Other than that I like him.

Wow, Bill! What did Roarke do at the Independent Spirit awards to get you so riled up?? I never liked him much, but apparently he did a good job with this wrestler movie, even if he's basically pretty much a jerk.

This year, I not only didn't see most of the movies (only MILK and READER), I didn't even see the award show. First time I've missed it in years, but I had company, none of whom had any interest in the Oscars, and we went out to dinner. I'm curious about how the new host did, and sorry I missed all the beautiful dresses. Did I miss anything else? I'll see who won in the paper tomorrow. I like most of your picks and you'll probably have a pretty good average.

Back to real life tomorrow, more or less.

Hi Pat

I was 8-2.

As to Rourke he used the F-bomb several times, talked about doing women in the rear in rest rooms, said Marissa Tomei acted good with a bare ass, and I could go on but that gives a pretty good summary of his acceptance speech.

Jackman turned out to be a great host. They did something with the acting categories that was very charming. They brough back five winners of previous years in each category. Each one then talked about the role of this year's nominee it worked pretty well.

Real life tomorrow for me too!

Oh, dear. I see what you mean about Roarke. That was sort of my view of him back when, and yes, probably the way he wrecked his own career. Maybe he can't stand success and wants to wreck it again.

Sorry I missed the show. And sorry both of us have to go back to real life tomorrow.

Hi Pat

Rourke actually acted like a gentleman last night which was really unexpected. But he was just embarassing at the Independent Spirit Awards and he pretty much lost me as a fan forever.

On to real life!
