Your Updates On Your Life Are Welcome Here.

My favorite day of the week is here again. The day when you update me on what is going on in your life. There is no time frame, so you can respond to this post for days to come! It doesn’t matter if you are caring for an elderly parent or not. I’d like to hear about your joys and concerns, If you have questions there are a lot of really nice helpful posters here. If you want to just vent this is the day and place to do it. Heck even if you are looking for a job you are welcome to post what kind of job you are looking for and maybe someone looking for someone will read it and it will be a match made in heaven! If you have been reading the blog for a while or are just new to the blog and want to meet some nice women and one weird dude this would be a good day to introduce yourself.

Been a different week for me. Had a great Sunday watching the Super Bowl. A traumatic Monday with the concussion heard around the world. Tuesday a recovering day. Wednesday back to the work market. Thursday a meeting at work where I discovered I was not doing the tax returns properly. I was supposed be using a program called Numbermate. The only problem was I didn’t have the program on my computer. It was kind of frustrating having to do a tax return over again. There was one dinner out with Mom and one day I went over on my lunch hour and played a game of Yahtzee with her. It has to be really boring for her to sit alone all day. My headache is 95% gone my leg is still pretty sore but getting better. I have one week at work down the drain. I hope to finish two projects today. Nine weeks to go to touchdown.

That is my week in a nutshell. Now the blog is your. Tag you are it.

Okay, I'll start. Unless somebody gets in before I finish this. First, my mom's cold is almost gone. Some others in the facility are still coughing, but everybody seems on the mend, which is Very Good News. Otherwise, nothing much going on there. I've been lax about getting in with the new doc for mom due to (you guessed it) problems with insurance. Too annoying and lengthy to detail here, but it's not insurmountable, just will take some time and effort to resolve. Not having fun yet.

I'm going to be up to my ears in another week. Signed up for a conference where my daughter will be giving a talk, and due to my own confusion about dates, it overlaps my working on our local election. It seems to be more or less worked out now, but the week of 2/16 is going to be super-hairy, with the election board job, the conference, houseguests, and having to get up early every day, which is my least favorite thing to do.

How frustrating to find you did taxes (I'm sure correctly) with the wrong software that you didn't even have! Otherwise, things sound okay for you, just super-busy. I hope the leg recovers soon and the headache goes away 100%. Not a good time of year to have a headache, that's for sure.

Hey I am early this week! Maybe 2nd?
Anyhow, Glad to hear you are better with your headache Bill. Keep a good watch with that one. Make sure it does go away 100%. Seems to me they should have made sure you had the correct software to begin with. Anyhow that sucks.
Pat sounds to me that you are getting through things ok with your mother, the insurance thing can be very annoying and time consuming.
For me the week was ok with dad. Nothing major, just trying to deal with the teeny/petty things that bug the crap out of me some days. As he gets very moody when he cannot get out to golf. And with the 12 inches of snow we got that has hung around all week, things can get funky. He had trouble with the vcr remote a couple times, lost his online solitaire card game, failed to mention the expiration of one of his prescriptions but finally/luckily got out to a basketball game of his granddaughter's last evening. (which was a few hours of bliss for me)
Oh, and Bill,
I know who all the nice women are....but who is the weird dude?
:) Hope you have a restful weekend.

We have had an okay week as well. Work is fairly busy and I enjoy that. My daughter, Savannah, has to go to daycare in the mornings for a while since my mom is in Florida. Usually, Grandma comes over and puts her on the school bus so she can sleep later and I can get to work at 6:30. I am then off at 3:00 and can help with her Brownie troop. We had dance class on Monday and a Brownie meeting on Thursday. Our troop had a Pinklicious party. I think they enjoyed it. Right now, we are recovering from a playdate that went a little sour. :(. Fridays are generally the evening we like to do NOTHING. All in all a great week. Next Saturday we leave for Florida to visit my mom and step dad. Savannah doesn't know we are going to take her to Disney World for one day. My husband has to stay home because his job is such that he has to be available in bad weather. I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Hi Pat

I will hope and send good thoughts that your Mom's cold is completely gone soon.

Insurance problems seem more the norm than the exception. I hate insurance companies and I used to work for one!

I would love to hear about the talk your daughter is going to give, she just seems so amazing to me. Then so is her mom.

Wow do you seem busy, I hope at the end of the week you will take a couple of days off from you mom and life and just relax.

Like I told them at work today, I'm fine with the numbers, I am just having trouble with the procedures.

Hi Dona

You are never late in my mind. And you are second!

Glad there was nothing major with your dad. The petty things are difficult because of they can build up and build up until you just don't want to face it anymore.

I would imagine things got funky if you were housebond all together for a week! The failing to mention a prescription would bug the heck out of me too,

The weird dude? That would be yours truly!

Hi Kim!

Wow going to work at 6:30 in the morning is really, really early. I'm glad you like being busy!

Dance Class and Brownie Meetings and A job and a husband and a daughter. You just aren't very busy are you.

You know there was an article in the NY Time the other day that pink is now the in color and even men are wearing it. So the Pinkilicious party sounds fun and a with it thing to do!

Savannah is going to be so surprised at the Disney World outing. What a neat thing to do for your daughter.

I'm sorry your husband can't go with you.

I hope you have a great trip to Floriida and your husband survives his family being gone!

Yes, interesting week for you. Why the heck didn't they check with you on the software for returns? I would have thought providing you with their preferred program would have step one, day one. As to Mom alone -- I thought the caretaker was there during the day... is it only nights? Have I missed another paragraph?

Please keep tabs on the headache. When is the follow-up app't with your own doctor?

Pat, glad to hear everyone is on the mend at the facility, but sorry to hear about the problems with insurance. It really shouldn't be such a pain in the other end to get a doctor. Remember when we used to just pick the one we wanted and insurance paid?

Will hold good thoughts for things coming together week after next!

Dona, glad it was a pretty good week. If your dad's used to being out daily, I can imagine he had a bit of a case of cabin fever, which has to be hard on you. And, yes, it's often the little things that drive me around the bend, rather than larger issues.

Kim, sounds like you had a busy week as well, with some fun stuff. And the trip to FL will be a real fun treat for Savannah, with Disney as a surprise!

Been an okay week around here. Lots of little stuff, like changing Mom's doctor app'ts and doing some catch up stuff. Time at Mom's two or three days, doing some things she wanted done before Deb got here, like rearranging spare room, moving more boxes (we'll never run out of boxes to move), then she fussed about spots on the kitchen floor, so that got scrubbed. All pretty standard. I keep doing my daily exercise and meditation (g).

The great news is that Deb got in last night. Reality set in early, when she discovered this evening Mom's walker won't fit in the trunk of her car. And she has to take walker, chair and luggage back to AZ with them and her dog needs the entire back seat.

Equally great news is that we leave on Wednesday for a week in the RV, going to Largo FL to deliver a radio, then to Orlando for the hamfest and I hope to just kick back, read, relax, knit, play guitar, walk dogs. This is my annual weekly break and we didn't think it was going to happen this year. WiFi is going to be iffy at best, so I'll probably be least in site for a week, but will keep up until we leave.

I just wish each of you could have an annual week's getaway break from your care giving routines. Actually, since it seems Mom's going back to AZ with Deb for a while, I'm going to have a few weeks, it appears.

Hi Dr

It wasn't a software for returns, it was a supplemental program where you insert information in the program so the reviewer can follow what you did. I never even new it existed. They are really forthcoming in telling me what their procedures are.

Nope the caregiver is only there at night. I decided not to do a followup because I am feeling so much better. They did say it would take as much as a week for the headache to go away.

I am so glad Deb got there in time for you to take a trip. And also that you may get as much as a month reprieve from caregiving.

Reality isn't a bad thing for Deb right now. It is good for her to see what you have been dealing with.

Have a great time in the RV but know you will be missed around here!

Be well and stay well on the trip and enjoy the new time with Himself!
