Compassion Coupons.

This was one of those days where is was a little difficult finding interesting articles. We are all tired of hearing about the debt ceiling. I'm hoping Pat survives carmageddon but I am guessing she is tired of seeing and hearing about it. So this is what I have ended up with today:

Compassion coupons:

A mother's love:

Are there fifty states in the United States? Guess again:

Comment Away.

QUOTE FROM HISTORY:

Yesterday's quote was authored by Amelia Earhart. "I had no idea when I refused to give up my seat on that Montgomery bus that my small action would help put an end to the segregation laws in the south. I only knew that I was tired of being pushed around. I was a regular person, just as good as anybody else." was authored by a lady born in 1913 and died in 2005. That is all you need to answer the question, Who authored today's quote?

Am I tired of hearing about Carmageddon? Oh, you bet! When the kids arrived a couple of days ago, I asked if they had heard about it in San Jose. They said they've probably heard about it in Afghanistan. {g} Shoot, it's about a mile of the freeway, shut down for a little more than two weekend days. I think everybody will live. I don't have to drive the 405 often, so it doesn't affect me at all except for being sick of hearing about it. If I worked over on the west side on weekends, I'd probably bite the bullet and take a motel room for a couple of days.

Compassion Coupons are probably good for everyone. Anything that gets help to the needy is fine with me.

The woman who dived out of the car with a toddler in her arms is very lucky indeed. It raises a few questions, though. Since a 20 month old should have been in a car seat in back, how did she even get him unhooked and into her arms in the front? Didn't she realize they were already being followed by at least one police cruiser? I think I'd have waited for the cops, myself.

North Dakota not a state? All the way back to 1889? How funny! I wonder if they'll have to pay back any federal aid to states that they've gotten over the years. That might solve our debt problem right there, and gee, sorry, ND residents. {g}

Interesting articles. I like the idea of the Compassion Coupons, particularly as it encourages folks to shop locally and to know their money is going to stay right there in town, to help "locals."

I have some of the same questions Pat has. I suppose the erratic driving could have been due to him struggling with her, while she struggled to get the child out of the back car seat? As to jumping from the car, who knows? We had a gal jump from a car here, during a kidnapping, but the guy was wielding a knife, which provided incentive, and she didn't know if the cops were aware of her situation.

ND not a state? Who knew? People really need to understand they should listen to us geezers and geezerettes, as a lot of us have the time and tech savvy and resources to prove we're right (G)

Hi Pat

We have been hearing about up hear for a couple of weeks. A lot of the stories bring up the Olympics when it was held in LA and they had a lot of warnings then just like now. Then it turned out the freeways were the best ever because everyone stayed home. Wonder if that is what will happen this weekend.

I also like the Compassion Coupons because it helps everyone.

I wonder if she got the baby out of baby seat after the car jacker took the car, she could have jumped in to the back seat to protect her baby but it would have been difficult. But what would have happened when she hit the pavement if the baby hit its head on the pavement and hit it hard? I would have also just waited for the cops.

Interest thought that N.D. will have to pay back all the federal aid it received. And I wonder if the state will have to refund state income tax to the residents since technically they didn't have the authority to impose it.

Find to more states that aren't states and make them pay back federal aid, then we have a surplus!

Hi DR

Great point about the coupons encouraging the people to shop locally!

I hope the woman that jumped out of the car there wasn't hurt. I am not sure the lady in the article today did the right thing, waiting would have been much safer.

We geezers as a group know a ton and instead of throwing us out to the pasture should learn as much as they can from us. Like whether our not a state is really a state.

Oh, ND state income tax! I didn't think about that! Do they have a state income tax? I see bankruptcy in ND's future and a bonanza in the federal gov't's if they find a few more non-states. I like the way your mind works. {g}

Hi Pat

Yup North Dakota has an income tax. Just for information purposes, Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming don't have a state income tax. Two others, New Hampshire and Tennessee, tax only dividend and interest income.

You and I should be in charge, we would solve the debt ceiling in style.
