Strides

Another brief post this morning due to mental overload. I did make some great strides this morning finally, after two weeks of phone calls and banging my head against the wall, solve the computer problem I was having with my home income tax program. Makes for the start of a great day.

On to another great stride. I think I have told you before that I once donated my time to a cancer research center that specialized in breast cancer. They were trying to develop a vaccine that would stop the spread of a cancer cell. Somewhere in this household I actually have a video of a breast cancer cell. Unfortunately they didn't succeed. Now comes a report from the University of Michigan. They have a long ways to go but it is a start. I see it as not only a beginning but a great stride in finding a cure for breast cancer. Read the article here:

http://www.cancer.med.umich.edu/news/freezing-breast-tumors10.shtml

What strides have you made lately? They can be small steps or large ones. Get the garage cleaned out? Doing well on the new diet? Let me know how you are doing striding through life.

Bill, the post you see removed there was just my comment a second time. Blogger is behaving rather strangely this morning.

Bill, this is wonderful news in the article! The fact that it's been used successfully to treat other types of cancers makes me hopeful that the clinical trials will be widespread and this will soon be an improved treatment. What a godsend for so many men and women.

On that same note, thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts from this group. Barb's mammogram and sonogram both came back clear!

Pat, will hold good thoughts for your mom and hope any bug she may have is cleared up soonest.

Strides - yes. Paperwork is all sorted and taxes about half done. Finished a shawl and cap for friends. Discovered getting up half an hour earlier in the morning allows me to do what seems like an hour's worth of additional tasks, errands and the like, so I can come straight home from pool and jump into work earlier and quit earlier.

I too liked the article and am hoping it will become widespread, its time for a good thing when it comes to any cancer.

Pat good luck to your mom on the bug, hoping the doc gets the message and just takes care of things asap.

DR, glad to hear your friends tests came back clear. Never underestimate the power of Prayer, I always say.

Actually I did get a few minor things accomplished around the house. Although we wanted to go somewhere other than here outside to do some things as the weather is absolutely beautiful, but we had a car wreck Monday and so no wheels for us for a few weeks. Bummer. We are ok, just feeling the after effects and mostly just the Shankster beating himself up.

Hey, I thought there wasn't supposed to be a post today? (but glad there was, otherwise what would Pat, DR and I do?)

:)

Dona, so sorry to hear about the accident. Glad to know you're both okay, but I suspect you're a bit creaky. Sure hope the issue can be resolved quickly and you'll be mobile again.

Dona, so sorry about the accident! It can really shake you up, even if nobody is hurt.

Mom, it turns out, has "a touch of" pneumonia. Doc said he heard a little rattle in one lung. So she's getting breathing treatments and antibiotics. She says she "feels good" and then goes right off back to sleep, which is probably the best thing for her.

Glad to hear you solved your computer problem. That's always a relief.
Hi Pat

Don't worry about double postings we all have had I that happen and if you miss it, I will eventually catch it and delete it.

I wonder how safe the surgery is to remove the frozen tumor, still if given my options I think I'd go for that over chemo.

Being on call is making strides, because it is supporting your mom. It does kind of stink, however, to have to put your life on hold.

It totally ticks me off when doctors don't return phone calls.

Hi DR

I can hardly wait for them to try it with humans.

Really great news about Barb!!! Tell he we are still in her corner.

Getting taxes in order is great strides!!

Forgot Pat made strides there too!

And what a giving kind thing to do, making the shawl for a friend.

I always get up at 5 in the morning because my mind works better early than it does late.

Hi Dona

Having a car wreck is just plain awful. I am very glad neither you or The Shankster were hurt. And to be without a car for a few weeks is terrible. I wonder if your insurance won't pay for a rental car. And tell the Shankster not to beat himself up, my guess is it probably wasn't even his fault.

You are right it is time for good news re cancer.

Glad the weather is beautiful!!

I don't really call today a post. To short. But what I am learning about yesterday's post and today's is they don't haven't to be long!

Hi Pat

Sorry to hear your mom has pneumonia.

When mom had it they told her to sleep and she did. For really long periods at I time.

I hope they caught it early on.

Hey Guys, thanks for the well wishes.. we are ok, just both are feeling the pain of neck and headaches. But since we both have those problems already, we wonder if it is just mostly from the stress of it and only a little from the jolt. :)So we are giving it a few days.
It was a first for us and not totally our fault but we were from behind so...We do have good insurance and for some reason when I have always carried the car rental, we don't have it now? Too rotten of a day to complain about it in length so I let it go. Seems the other guys were obviously in some sort of trouble as all the info we got from them was totally fake! Another first. But just out kind of luck. But sad that our baby was broken...:(

Pat I think the sleep for you mom is a good thing to help her recover quickly. Glad the doc managed to get there soon.

Bill, the only willing way I see 5:00 am is from the midnight side. There's something inherently wrong in getting up before the sun, for me (wry s).

Pat, sorry about the pneumonia, but glad Hazel's on antibiotics and is able to sleep well, the most healing of remedies, many contend.

Dona, not sure I understand the accident. You were hit from behind or you hit someone from behind? As to the fake information - that's what made things such a hassle in my accident last summer. The guy who was at fault gave false information about the accident (which we found out because one of my aqua students was behind us and saw the whole thing) and gave false insurance information and when we finally tracked down his real insurer, they were a horror to deal with, because they only insured high risk drivers and were determined not to pay. I hope you can get things straightened out and not be without wheels for too long.

Bill, you're right -- your blogs don't have to be long. You always found something of interest to throw out for us to think about, then ask questions. I thought your last two day's offering s were wonderful, quite frankly.

Hi Dona

Be careful of the pains and the headaches, watch them and if they don't go away get ye asses to the doctor.

The fact that the others gave fake info tell me this isn't their first accident and they were afraid their insurance would go up. That just confirms The Shankster wasn't at fault.

Hi Dr

It is just so beautiful that early with the rising over Mt. Hood.

Thanks for the nice words about the blog!
