Your Weekly Update.

This is the day when you do my work for me. Tell me about your lives. Tell me your secrets, your joys, you disappointments, your successes. Vent if you need to get something off of your chest. Tell me about your relatives. Introduce yourself if the mood strikes you.

Busy week for me. Monday I took mom to the primary care physician. Tuesday we went to the foot doctor, mom had her feet done, and I had very minor foot surgery. Wednesday was picking up some work assignments from the guys that bought my business. Thursday I picked up another work assignment and had a business lunch. In between I cooked four meals at mom's and we went out twice for meals. Then there was the grocery shopping for two households, the minor repairs for two households, the dropping off and picking up of Mom's prescriptions, and the scheduling of some specialist for doctors appointments for Mom. She is been have knee problems. The three days I was there I iced her knee and exercised them a little. I did get the swelling down and so far so good, it has stayed down.

Now on to the entertainment world. Eliminated on Dancing With The Stars were Macy Gray (thank goodness) and Ashley Hamilton (I wanted Delay to go.) On Top Chef it was still boring but a little more exciting this week due to some drama. Because the contestants wanted Robin to go last week instead of Mattin all of the them wore red scarves in honor of Mattin. Robin donned one too. Good for her. Then later in the show Robin and Laurine almost had a cat fight. The Quickfire Challenge was to cook one thing that reminds you of the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other shoulder. Special judge for the Quickfire Challenge was James Beard Award winner Michelle Bernstein. Much to the chagrin of the other contestants Robin won the Quickfire Challenge and received immunity from elimination. Special guests for the elimination challenge were Penn & Teller. The pair deconstructed a couple of magic tricks which lead to the elimination challenge. The cooks had to deconstruct a classic dish. That is basically to mkae a classic dish unrecognizable but tastes the same as the classic dish. The bottom three were Ron, Ash, and Laurine. Top four were Jennifer, Michael, Ashley, and Kevin. Kevin won the night. For the third week in a row a man goes home, Ron. I kind of felt sorry for Ron during this season, because of the language barrier he often didn't really understand the challenges. This time it really hurt him. Staring tonight is The Amazing Race. It will be on CBS at 8 PM, 7 PM Central time. Two hour premier looking forward to it.

I did enjoy Flash Forward on ABC this last week. For two minutes and thirty seconds everyone in the world blacksout. During the blackout they see themselves on a date six month in the future. They don't see how they got there, they just see where they are on that date. Joseph Fiennes is the FBI agent trying to get to the bottom of the worldwide blackout. Great acting, pretty good music, and some interesting storylines!

I'm done. The blog is now yours. Update me. Post anything you damn well please!

Finally finished my newsletter and put it in the mail. Yay! Now must catch up on donation letters.

Yesterday, we went to the pistol range with a friend and her dad. Loved the little .22 pistol I was firing. Hated the .38. Too noisy for me.

Hi Connie

CONGRATS ON THE NEWSLETTER!!

I fired a .38 as part of a citizens police academy I took and you are right it really is loud.

You were certainly busy with your caregiving this week! Good wishes for your mom's knee to get better.

Nothing new to report here, except it has been over 100 degrees for far too long. Can't wait for cooler weather!! Oh, one thing. On Thursday evening, I suddenly remembered I haven't looked at mom's toenails for quite a while. Friday when I visited, clippers at the ready, the podiatrist was there and I found out he visits regularly for all the residents, so that's one thing I don't have to remember any more. Yay!

I thought the two eliminations on DWTS were reasonable, tho' I also want to see DeLay absent. Top Chef? Show me more of the food, I don't care about any of these people.

I caught the second showing of FLASH FORWARD, and it was okay. BTW, it's Joseph Fiennes, not Ralph. I probably won't watch it, as there's something else at their regular timeslot that I like better (can't remember what, but it's why I didn't see the first showing).

Hi Pat

We had the 100 heat wave in July and it was miserable. I think something like 11 days in a row. I hope it cools off down there!

Great that you no longer have to worry about nail care for your Mom!

There really aren't any interesting personalities on Top Chef this year. And even the cooking doesn't look all that great. The challenges are weird.

I thoguht Flash Forward had a lot of potential. Survivor and Bones are both on at the same time. And I corrected my entry to Joseph.

Sounds like a pretty busy Mom Week, Bill. The caretaker is off on vacation, right? Except, you'd still have done most of that stuff for her yourself. Sure hope the doc has an answer for her knees and she can get relief. Is she seeing the specialist soon, I hope?

CD, good job on the newsletter! Haven'te been to a pistol range in too long to remember. I leave that to Himself and his friend for the moment, although I really should check my skills level.

Pat, here's hoping you get some more decent weather soon. What good news on the podiatrist -- I was so relieved when we found one who specialized in diabetics and I no longer had to wonder if I was doing it "right" when I did her toenails.

Anonymous, nice to see a new "face" and hope you'll join us often.

Kinda ho-hum here. Rained all week and we were starting to rust, finally had a spot of sun on Friday and some today. Looks like we may have a student interested in leading the aquatics class for winter term - please cross fingers! I can then leave with no guilt. Decided being happy in my environment would make me feel better about working, so spent a day plus scrubbing and scouring walls, windows and everything else in my office and clearing clutter. Still some clearing to be done, but at least everything sparkles. When you do all your work on the computer, there are just times you need visible proof you've accomplished something! (wry g). I think I'm moving towards nesting/ hermit mode - pity I have three ms waiting to be done, but grateful for the work. Oh, that was another thing... I scheduled out ms in house and those pending, so at least I know what the calendar looks like and I even included some wiggle room for me. Another "oh" - Himself set up a blog for hams (amateur radio operatiors) and asked me to review it and I said it would be nice to have a page for the XYLs (wives/ significant others) and suddenly I have editor status and he wants me to run that section. Yipes! Got to think about that one, considering what a technophope I am, among other things.

Hi DR

No the caregiver is here but her regular days off are Monday and Tuesday. Nephew on one week comes Tuesday and Wednesday, the following week on Tuesday. This was my two night week. I always stay the day following my last night if Mom isn't doing well and she wasn't this week. Sis did sell her house and the chances are she will be here on Saturday for six days. And you are right, I'd still do most of that stuff.

I actually am missing the rain and I bet right now Pat would like some of it! Great news about the student and I will keep my fingers crossed but you can leave anytime without guilt! It is they would should be guilty for the way they treated you.

Don't be to much of a hermit. Good job on the calendar and the wiggle room!

If you want me to post a link to his blog in one of my daily messages I would be happy to.

I hear you on the caregiver. About the only thing one could have done for Mom was clean and maybe fix some meals. I'd still have done docs, groceries, et al. I'm so pleased to her Sis sold the house, which has to be a huge relieve to her, as well. Hope she is up soon to give you a bit of a break. Do you see them moving to Portland?

Thanks for the offer to post a link. I doubt we have many ham operators lurking and that's what the site is dedicated to.

Hi Dr

People can find my blog with a search engine. You never know what their interests might be. A lot of ones that search the blog don't return but often will link up to something I provided in a message.

For instances today I've had vistitors from Singapore (Snug), India, and England.

Thanks for clearing that up, Bill. I like BONES and I watch SURVIVOR (guilty pleasure), so FLASH will probably do without me.

Good news about sis selling the house! I hope she got a good price, and I hope she'll move nearer and be more help to you.

Hi Pat

I tried to watch Survivor but just couldn't get into it.

In this market if you break even on a house sale you are doing good and that is what they did.
