Easter Update

Hello everyone, I wish those that celebrate Easter a very special day. Here is a little Easter history:

http://www.slashfood.com/2010/04/01/history-of-easter-food/?icid=main|htmlws-sb-n|dl5|link6|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.slashfood.com%2F2010%2F04%2F01%2Fhistory-of-easter-food%2F

I also hope those that observe Passover are enjoying the festival. For those that, like me, wanted to know more about Passover here is some information:

I wanted to bring to your attention that Mary Z sold a piece of artwork she created. Congratulations, Mary Z! You can go to her blog here view the piece. Look at the blog entry for March 31:

Now on to my update. Had a great time yesterday with my friends from Seattle, Mark and Sandra. They, Mom, and I went to Claim Jumpers for dinner. We had a great waitress and the food was outstanding. So was the conversation. Mom's loves them as do I. Great evening. They left Mom's house then went back to their hotel to get some rest for an early start to there trip back to Seattle this morning. Mom and I celebrated Easter this morning by going out for breakfast. After this post I am heading in to work.

I had a realization at work this week. I am the point man on hard returns. About a week ago the boss told me that F was out of work and could I give her a list of returns that I hadn't started. I did. Friday F came back and said "those were hard returns. I enjoyed doing them." I was thinking to myself, all my returns are either that hard or harder. It was a confidence booster.

Entertainment Update: Cowboys (my favorite) finished last on The Amazing Race but didn't get eliminated as it was a non-elimination week. Shannon Doherty got eliminated on Dancing With The Stars when it should have been Buzz or Kate. Celebrity Apprentice Daryl Strawberry was fired, well really he quit, took a bullet for the team.

Now it is your turn. Update me on you life! Tell me everything!

Great post and thank you for taking time from a busy day to put it up. I enjoyed the information about Easter foods and was fascinated by the Passover information, some of which I knew, some not.

Mary Z, congratulations! Love the painting. It's the type of art that appeals to me, beautiful in its simplicity and contrasts. Unfortunately, I have little like it, as we invested heavily in Alaska art, which covers most of our wall space (which is limited to begin with.) How nice to know it found a home with a local woman.

Bill, I'm not surprised you're getting the hard and harder tax returns, given your experience and expertise. I'm thinking this was not only a confidence booster for you, but for F, as well, discovering she could do returns more difficult than what she's been given previously. I'll bet she had a smile on her face when she returned them.

Update: Slow week. Saw Dr. N three times, did the pool four times. Line danced Weds and it hurt like the devil, but Dr. N said that was a "good hurt" (easy for her to say!) as it was helping alighnment healing. Humpf! Spent a bit of time at Home Depot, scoping out cabinet options, showers, whirlpools. I was amazed to discover I could do a whirlpool with full surround and shower for not much more than a corner shower. Point to consider, as there've been times I'd have killed to have our hot tub again. Have measured the bathroom and have some design ideas on my head, not yet translated to paper, to see if they'll really work. Because space is limited, will probably use kitchen cabinets, so I can put the sink and cabinets in one corner with counter "wings," especially if we decide we want a whirlpool. Must Do More Research. Spent half an hour in the front garden, mostly removing dead plants and "painting" weeds and mint. Am preparing to start our traditional ham dinner.

Interesting point for gardeners. I was talking with one of the garden guys at HD, about getting the mint and chickweed out of the front garden, without harming the plants and without a lot of weed pulling (which isn't allowed at the moment). Here's his suggestion: Buy a bottle of the concentrated round-up, which you normally use diluted in a sprayer, but you can't do that in a flower garden. Pour into small container. Get cheap artists' brush (goodness knows, I've plenty of those). Dip brush in concentrate and "paint" just one leave or strand of offending weeds. That's all it takes. The concentrate on one leaf will go to the root and kill the offending plant. This becomes almost a Zen Experience (g). You sit on the ground and focus on pulling one stalk of mint (my biggest offender) or chickweed (okay, maybe running neck and neck with mint) and carefully paint a leaf or two, being careful to not get any of the hostas and other plants being invaded or overtaken. Is it quick? No. Does it work? He swears it does. Does it focus you in the moment? You bet.

Other than that, I continue to improve gradually and try to be patient with what I can and can't do. The pain levels are considerably reduced and the hope is energy will continue to increase. I'm doing my PT stuff and adjustments and still getting in editorial time each day, although not as much as I'd like, but it will come.

Hope all of you are enjoying Easter or your Passover celebrations.

Hello to all and hoping everyone is having a great day as well.

I have been AWOL for a few and it seems that I have missed some good posts like, Some Trembling Frogs, A Casino Jackpot, The Itsy Debate and a wonderful Act of Kindness by DR, to name a few.

Today I want to say that I loved Mary Z's Painting! I just loved the colors, beautiful. Congrats to her on selling a painting too.

Bill, so glad you had a great weekend with Friends and mom. The Cowboys are my favs as well and hope they can step up tonite. I agree that Kate should have gone on DWTS. And I am still up in the air on Celebrity, not sure who I am for quite yet.

As for an update from me, its not the best I am afraid. Here goes.
Although I love my new Kitchen, everything else is going to the dogs. We wrecked the car a month ago and just Friday got our car back, much to our dismay....several things which were to be replaced new were not even though were charged as such. They were even the same ones and didn't really get a good repair on either. I compared my "before" pictures to be sure even though I knew by looking. For 4 weeks I could have done a better job. Several things are in question and if that were all, it wouldn't even start 30 minutes after leaving the body shop. After some contained messages, on my part, to Insurance Agents/Claims and Body shop, got an inspection from Body Shop guy to see if he could start it up. He couldn't. After leaving our home at 9:30am yesterday we were supposed to see a tow truck come get our car. We have not seen or heard from anyone.

So I have to say that so far April is turning out to be about as rotten as March was. First we paid in our deductible for our insurance, then I fell and chipped a tooth, dentist fixed for $200, have to go back for $300 more work this week.
I was sick for 2 weeks, guessing I just got a little too close to someone with a bug of some sort.
Yesterday we also had no hot water and are having to drain the water heater along with putting in new elements and thermostats. Started it yesterday and just our luck had to do it all over again today. Don't ask.

This week is Dad's annual golfing vacation with his golfing buddies. We were looking forward to some alone time....we only wish we had a running vehicle.

Forgot to mention weather. A week ago at this time, we were having 1/4" to 1/2" hail and it looked like we had 2" of snow. The last couple days have been in the low to mid eighties, glorious, sunny days. Somehow, we missed spring (wry s). Everything is starting to bloom, including the grass!

Oh, Dona, you're not having any fun at all! I sure hope you can get the car thing straightened out. I see you, like me, take "before" pictures, to show the damage. So sorry to hear the body shop wasn't reliable/reputable. I hope your insurance company will go after them, since they paid a chunk of the bill, right?

Two weeks sick is two weeks too many. The chipped tooth is adding insult to injury. We seem to be running sorta in tandem and, while misery loves company, I'd as soon you weren't dealing with all these issues, including the additional problem with the water heater.

At least, when my car was in the shop, the insurance company (other guy's) provided me a rental vehicle, so I had transportation. Given the various problems, you might want to push to see if you can get the same consideration in your circumstances.

(Hugs)

Thanks Dr, but the body shop which is straight across from our insurance company is one they recommended! They are in a contract together or something to that effect. But I sure let them know what I found. But I am sort of mad at them now too for not seeing that I was taken care of at all since Friday! I can understand them not doing anything for me a car since I didn't have that on my insurance even though I was sure I did. But now it is getting ridiculous. As I am sure I will be without a vehicle, for some time again. But I guess I have to take in consideration this is the weekend too, but he was here yesterday? I am so confused.

And I guess I have missed the post on what is going on with you? Sorry to hear you have something going on too. Hope you get better soon.

Lots to comment on today. Interesting stuff about the foods and about the Passover ritual. And congrats for getting all the hard returns, Bill. Lots of work, but an ego-booster.

Count me among those who love Mary Z's painting. Gorgeous!

DR, still sending vibes for your recovery.

Dona, what a bummer about your car. And your tooth, too. And your water heater and, well, everything. April is not being kind to you at all!

I agree with you, Bill, that Buzz should go and then Kate. She looks like every moment is painful, and she can't dance. He looks like he's having fun, but he's downright embarrassing to watch.

Nothing going on here today except that I just felt the roll-off from a 6.9 quake over 200 miles south of me. Went to visit mom and she promptly went off to sleep, so I left, went to the market, came home and realized I had forgotten one item I left in the do-it-yourself checkout. Wrote it off as I didn't want to go back. Will visit mom again tonight, when I can be sure she'll be awake. I'm ignoring Easter.

Hi DR

I also was fascinated by the Passover information. I didn't know any of it.

I was kind of surprised I was getting the hard ones because not much feedback from the bosses other than they want me back. The other workers always say the give you those returns because they trust you. I call them Nancy Kerrigan returns (Why me, Why me).

I imagine F got a boost in confidence also!

Maybe a slow week is what you needed right now until you get back to full health.

I don't think there is such a thing as a good hurt.

Get a hot tub, you don't do a lot of luxuries and you deserve it! I bet your traditional ham dinner was to die for!

Even the new suggestion sounds like a lot of work for weeds. Just get a gun out and shoot the weeds.

I am glad the pain has reduced but won't be completely happy until the the pain is all gone!

Hi Dona

We always miss you when you are gone.

First the auto. Get the address of the Indiana Insurance Commissioner. Also get the address of the agency in Indiana that licenses the body shop. Draft a letter to your insurance company and auto body shop. List each problem you have had in the letter, what the failed to do, how it has impacted you life not having a car. Sign the letter and at the end of it using the CC: notation list the Insurance Commissioners Address & The Auto Body Licensing agency. Hand deliver the letter to the body shop and make a human sign for the letter. Fax the letter to your insurance company. I guarantee when they think that you contacted their licensing agency you will get prompt service. You will have you car within days. Also attach a copy of the before and after pictures. Try it, it always works for me.

The Cowboys are fun, that is what I look for in reality shows, the teams or people that are having the most fun. That is why I love the heavy set gal on DWTS, she may not be the best dancer but she is having the most fun.

I hate going to the dentist. And chipped teeth hurt like hell. And it is damn expensive.

And not feeling well, well, that just stinks. Sending healing vibes for you.

Shame on you, you sent the bad weather this way. We have been having high winds, hail, snow in the mountains, cold, and all in the same hour sometimes. Not to mention really a lot of snow in the mountains.

Hi Pat

I'd be really shook up if I was that close to a 7.2 earthquake.

I seldom will refer to a woman as a bitch, maybe used that term to describe maybe three women in my life. Kate is very simply a bitch and I hope she goes in the next couple of weeks. I want Buzz to go first because he really is a hero and he just embarasses himself every time he tries to dance. I don't want his lousy dancing to diminish he accomplishments.

Keep us up to date on how your Mom is doing.

Bill

Thanks DR & Pat for the kind words. Yes April is not starting off too well and March was the pits.

Thanks Bill for the vibes and for the advice...but what do you mean it always works for you??? Just how many times has this happened to you?

:)

Hi Dona

Not exactly the situation you are in but a lot really. Health Insurance Companies, Auto Insurance Companies, Department Stores, whatever. Find their licensing agency and scare them with it. Really it always works.
