Waving

I am back from the seminar and waving good-bye to the death of boredom and ready to share some unusual articles and videos.

First up is a new way to treat pain, seemingly very effective:

As the above article is waving hello to new technology the next article is a wave that lead to a new Internet sensation.

Now I am taking the bear's lead and waving to some local firefighters and their caring hearts:

Animal Magic. Hope you day is full of magic of any kind.

Comment Away.

QUOTE

Maria Goeppert Mayer authored yesterday's quote. "And my task, as I see it, is to interest you folks to help me, to help them, to join the line right around the whole world! Not only to help the heathen abroad, but to help the heathen in Los Angeles. In America, too. By God's grace, if we can see our task and join hands and get together, we can spread the gospel around the world" an evangelist who founded the Foursquare Gospel Church. Though hugely successful through using modern technology (automobile, radio), a kidnapping scandal is what many remember most about her. She lived from 1890 to 1944. Upton Sinclair was fascinated with her history. After writing a poem about her dubious abduction, called "An Evangelist Drowns", he wrote her into his 1927 novel, Oil!, in the character of Eli Watkins, a corrupt small-town minister. That character is called Eli Sunday in the 2007 film, There Will Be Blood. Who authored today's quote?

Welcome back to the land of the living, Bill. Enjoy!

What a wonderful thing Snow World must be. I know that burn patients probably suffer more than any others, and anything that can help them through is great in my book. And now they are trying virtual reality hypnosis? I've not been able to be hypnotized with a few tries at it by amateurs. I've never had a pro try it, but I doubt it would be much different. Perhaps from a computer...?

The waving bear is priceless! And so is the deer rescue. Makes you wonder what the deer was thinking as that scary boat approached and guys started poking all around her. I hope she "got it" and was grateful. {g}

Hi Pat

Thanks for the welcome back, Christmas shopping and doctor appointments on the agenda.

I really liked Snow World. I was only able to be hypnotized once but it was by a professional.

I'vw watched the bear video several times because it makes me smile.

I hope the deer figured it out too! I am proud that we have such good first responders here.

Welcome back to our world, Bill. Glad you survived the tedium.

I love the idea of virtual reality being able to reduce the acute pain of burn victims and hope it can be extended to chronic pain issues. I've not been able to be hypnotized, although two professionals have tried.

The bear video is darling and the article and short video on the deer is heartwarming, from the man who spotted her to the firefighters who went the extra mile to rescue her.

Forgot - I meant to add comments about "dirty" cars. Chris was here last night. Works for BMW. I mentioned the report to him and he did have a bit of an explanation.

People who buy the high end cars want performance and power. They want the big engines, don't care about gas mileage, want the ability for speed, even if they can't use it most of the time. Ergo, the high end cars shown (BMWs, Cadallic, Maserati) have high performance engines and you can't (at this time) build those without negative environmental impact and nasty carbon footprints. That explanation makes sense to me -- it's the wealthy consumer who's driving the market to continue providing "dirty" cars. Fortunately, he pointed out, fewer and fewer people are able to ignore the cost of gas, low mileage and other issues involved in these vehicles.

Hi DR

Thanks for the welcome back!

I like the possibilities that come with virtual reality. If it works for burn victims it can move on from there. I guess I am the only weak minded among the three!

I love both the bear video and men that saved a dear. First responders and citizens taking time out of their lives to help a helpless animal. Couldn't get much better.

Hi DR

I love that we have an expert at your side to let us know the scoop.

His explanation makes sense to me also. With gas prices going out of site I bet the cars will come up with something before long.
