Ads, Rescues, & A New Country Star.

The quote of the day replaces the Who Am I for a few days.

Winston Churchill " If you are going through hell, keep going."

Let's talk about a new trends for homes. It is a new way to make money and pay for the mortgage:

I don't think in this lifetime I would ever do that to my house. I'd starve first.

Nothing like a good rescue story to start out the week:

Those two men are heroes. They stopped and helped. Good for them.

A friend of a friend had a country music album, Heaven to Heartache, debut in the top twenty on the C & W charts in England. With songs like GIRLS NIGHT OUT and SHAVE I think she has a winner, watch for her to move up the charts here in the US. I am wondering what the music expert, Pat, and the country and western expert, DR, have to say about the young ladies singing. First up is a song from before the release of HEAVEN TO HEARTACHE:

Click on the download button next to "Suddenly" and the song will start playing.

Next up is a link to her web page where you get one free download. "Girls Night Out" would be my choice.

Hope you aren't in such financial straits that you need to put billboards on your house, that you don't need rescuing today or ever, and that you enjoy the music.

Fire away.

Interesting - there's a country song out with that "quote" as part of the chorus lyrics (g).

I suspect most neighbors would have cardiac arrest over the billboard houses, particularly in neighborhoods the company would like to be in for exposure. I honestly don't think I could come home to something like that.

Good rescue story. Everyday heroes are often the best kind.

Congrats to your friend's friend on the release and debut of her album. Wouldn't consider myself a C&W expert, but one of the things I liked about a couple of songs I listened to was the fact she relies on her voice and the music, with the band as backup, rather than all the electronics and "noise" that seems to be creeping into several of the C&W artists recordings. I couldn't get to the blog (kept timing out), but did get to the website and listened to a couple of her numbers. I wish her the best of luck. Thanks for sharing.

Love the Churchill quote! Advice to live by. {g}

Too funny about the house billboards! I wonder how my neighbors would react. Probably not too well. I no longer have a mortgage, so it's out for me anyway, but it's certainly interesting. Question: Do they repaint for you after a year?

Definitely two heroic guys!

I couldn't seem to get to the first link, but I listened to three of her songs on the web page, and liked them a lot. If I were mixing, I might put the vocal a little more forward... just a tiny tad, but I'm only listening on my little computer speakers, so probably shouldn't judge. Anyway, good singer, good arrangements.

Hi DR

It is good to know that some of the lyrics from C & W songs celebrate history.

I know I couldn't come to billboards on my house and I am betting not only do some home owners' associations prevent it so do some city codes.

Everyday heroes never think they are heroes.

What is weird is I added the blog because I thought her web page was hard to follow. And you certainly are more of an Country and Western expert than I am. I liked her songs because they were personal stores set to music and easy to listen to.

Hi Pat

Churchill was really played well b a Birtish actor in The King's Speech. A couple of good quotes in the movie just not this one. By the way TKS comes out on dvd next week.

I know how my neighbors would react to billboards on my house. I'd have to hire a body guard. They would have to repaint after a year, I wouldn't sign a contract that didn't have a they pay for repainting clause in it.

I wish my friend's friend would hire you as a sound mixer. What I like about her, is she is in her mid forties and took a risk at that age and changed to a career where success is hard to come by.
