The Movie Starts Over

Another start to another week. It always seems good to get a new start. When watching movies would you like a new start? A different ending? If you had the power to mentally change the endings, the scenes in, or the start of movies could you use that power in other areas?

I'm a pretty calm person and I tend not to take sides on controversial issues. I am going to take a stand right now on a very serious subject. I hate self serve checkouts in grocery stores. Whenever they ask me if I want to use their self serve checkout my response is always "not in this lifetime". I want the checkers to make the mistakes instead of me. Here is a trend I completely support:

Are you glad that the super markets in your area may be taking away a service away from you?

I am closing Monday with a brief article:

Anything that protests outdated laws I am for.

Comment Away.

"I've been married to one Marxist and one Fascist, and neither one would take the garbage out. " Was authored by an American theater, film and television actress, and film director who was blacklisted Hollywood movie studio bosses in the 1950's. She was a dramatic actress on Broadway at age 21, earning praise for her role as a shoplifter in the play Detective Story which began its run on March 23, 1949. Called before the House Committee on Un-American Activities to testify against her husband, a playwright, father of her daughter, actress Dinah Manoff, She refused to testify and was ultimately blacklisted. She continued to work in theater and resumed her film career in the early 1960s, appearing in the television series Peyton Place as the evil Stella Chernak. She was born in 1927. Who authored today's quote?

Can't say I understand the brain scan thing. How on earth could you watch a movie with an MRI machine pounding away at you? I've had a couple of MRIs, and I find them horribly unpleasant. They're sure right that you'd have to be seriously motivated to participate in their study.

I use the self checkouts quite often, because you don't have to wait in line to use them. However, I detest how sensitive they are and how they keep telling me an attendant has been notified to assist me when I only want to get on with it. I also detest the woman's voice that guides you through. I turn her off first thing. If I don't, I can be heard muttering, "Shut up, bitch" several times during the transaction.

But however much I prefer doing things myself, I've decided I should use the checkers more often in the interest of keeping people working. I'm sure the stores want you to do it yourself so they can lay off some people.

The undie run? Well, good for them, I guess. Sock it to those religion-based antiquated laws. Whatever they are. {g}

Hi Pat

Being somewhat claustrophobic I hate MRIs but some of the newer ones arn't that bad. I sure wouldn't mind changing some outcomes so I might want to participate in their study.

The Albertsons close to my house opens at 5 but doesn't have a checkstand with a live checker until nine. Because you have to use the self serve stations during those hours I won't go in there at that time. I love thinking about you in the self serve stations uttering "shut up bitch." lol.

I think the undie run was to support gay marriage or to not support anything Morman Church related.

Since I don't watch a lot of movies, probably wouldn't be interested in the study with the MRIs, although my experiences have been more positive than what Pat describes. I do tend to rewrite books in my head, however.

Rarely use the self-serve checkouts. For one thing, I use my own bags and they don't seem to be able to deal with putting stuff in canvas bags, even on the "stands" that determine you added an item. For another, since I use pretty much the same grocery, I enjoy chatting with the checkers and getting questions answered. I also agree with Pat's theory that the more self-serve, the fewer checkers employed.

Not sure I understood the purpose of the undie-run, but what the heck, if people had fun (wry s).

Hi DR

The thing I liked about the first article wasn't so much the movie aspect of it but what the technology could do in other areas.

I also like talking to the checkers. I go in there a lot and they all no me by name. Different than like Pat says, the bitch in the self serve line.

The protest looked fun to me. The article didn't really say what they were protesting but like you said as long as they had fun!

I love the self serve line because it's way faster, unless there's some dummy in front of me who doesn't know how to use it. You should have to take a competency test before you're allowed to use it.

I am going to be laughing, next time I go through, thinking of Pat swearing at it. Funny!!!

I had an MRI on my knee last week and was very thankful they only put me in the tube up to my shoulders. I do not like being in that tube at all.

Hi Mary

I find self-service takes me longer than going through a check stand for many reasons, like the one you just mentioned.

That also struck me funny when Pat said she called the voice a bitch.

Why did you have an MRI? do we need to worry? The newer MRI's are better than the old ones. At least I feel I can escape with the new ones.

No, don't worry. It's just my knee. After 12 years of saying something is wrong with it, it turns out there's something wrong with it!

Hi Mary

I hope it doesn't require surgery and I also hope that now that they know something is wrong with the knee they can fix it.
