Sunday Update

Happy Sunday everyone! Here is my life update: work. Now it is your turn to update me on what is going on in your lives! I really miss hearing from, Kim, Snug and Kaye. I'm glad Dona and Mary Z check in on some posts! I know Mary is up to her ears in tax returns and Ellen always has to much on her plate. Bev travels, writes, travels some more, and writes some more. I catch up with her by her blog. After tax season I am going to put all the blogs on my blog following list. Dona's, Mary Z'S, Bev'S, Sian's and anyone that posts here that has a blog will have a link here. I am also considering submitting my blog to blog roll for their editors' review. I am going back and forth on whether or not to submit my blog, I would hate to get a failing review!

Here is a special update just for Pat. A Portland woman was eliminated from Project Runway last week. Here is her take on the show:

I know are a lot of Top Chef fans out there and I know that DR is a dynamite cook and loves a good recipe. And what is interesting is a chef with the same last name as DR was nominated! Good cooking must run in the family! The James Beard Awards are the cooking industries Oscars. Here are the local chefs that were nominated for the James Beard Awards:

On a personal note, I am on an entertainment mission. That mission is to see all ten Oscar Nominated movies by the time the Oscars are televised. I am at eight. The only two left are An Education and Precious. I think they are on the agenda for next weekend. Once I've seen all ten movies I will give you a quick opinion on each film.

Speaking of entertainment, The Amazing Race started last Sunday. The first team eliminated was Dana and Adrian. The team that already annoyed Pat and I, Brent and Caite, came in second. However, they incurred a thirty minute penalty which knocked them down to seventh place. I've never rooted for a penalty before. I really haven't picked a team to root for and so many teams had problems last week I just can't predict who will be eliminated tonight.

The blog is now yours. Tell me everything!

Like you, I miss a lot of our posters, but understand how "real life" interferes (wry s).

Interesting article on the designer. I think she's being too hard on herself, as someone commented in the article, but she's obviously a gracious person and one who seems to be still looking for her direction and I give her a lot of credit for admitting that.

DR is not a dynamite cook, I'm afraid. DR cooks because we must eat and because there are few restaurants that aren't half an hour away and I will admit I can put together a better meal than those nearby, most of the time. When I have time and inclination simultaneously, I do pretty good. Now, if only that would happen more often.

Been a good week here. Three days at the pool, line dance, finished a ms project and took a couple days off, before starting the next one. A flying trip to Raleigh NC (8 hr r/t drive) to help a woman whose husband is a ham, just had a second stroke, they have to move to a smaller place in a community that has "step up" care facilities. He can no longer use any of his ham gear and they needed the money it might bring. We'd been up once before, after his first stroke, but he just couldn't part with anything at that time. Himself bought all his gear, the living room is currently a warehouse and the hope is he can repair/refurb and sell it and get our money back. Hams take care of hams.

I got the kitchen finished, all the tupperware sorted and put away, everything scoured clean, took photos of what I'm not keeping and sent to the kids, so they can tell what they want me to send to them. Finally figured out how to send photos using WPMail with Picassa. Researched and resolved concerns with MSMoney and Microsoft pulling support. Finished a friend's prayer shawl on trip to and from NC. It's been a "finish up" kind of week/weekend and feels good to have a lot of stuff off the list.

It warmed up the last few days and was even able to open windows and air out the house for about an hour this afternoon. Only "glitch" was breaking off a chunk of filling last night at supper, so call to dentist is at top of tomorrow's life.

Life is good. Hope the same is true for the rest of the folks here.

Hi DR

Like the designer I think you are being to hard on yourself as a cook. I don't recall anyone turning down a meal that you fixed!

I wish I was closer so I could hire you as my private swimming teacher!

Sad about the woman having a second stroke but how lucky she is to have friends like you and himsel! Please let us know how she is doing.

Getting the kitchen finished is one hell of an accomplishment!

Glad the weather is improving we have had a stunning winter this year.

Good luck at the dentist!

Oh, darn! I missed Project Runway, so I don't remember who that particular designer is (was). Maybe I can catch a re-run. Missed Amazing Race last night, too. The hazards of having houseguests.

I wish you luck on your mission. If I ever saw all 10 Academy nominees, I think the world would end. Especially now that they have 10! Just what the world needs, a longer Oscar show! Sigh.

Hi Pat

Last year was the only year in the last three years that I didn't see all nominated films. I try to make it my mission every year!

The designer said she blew it and would have eliminated herself so at least it wasn't a sour grapes article!

Hey, I feed starving singles, for the most part, or people who don't cook. As the old commercial says, "they'll eat anything." (g).

I"d love to teach you water aerobics, I've a feeling you'd really enjoy it. I do still get to practice with folks who come to the PT pool at noon, often having finished "prescribed" PT and wanting to know what I'm doing. Since Susan or Christine are usually around, I can ask them if there's anything we need to NOT do.

Having the kitchen done and reclaiming the craft room for other things is a real "feel good" thing.

Oh, the woman didn't have the stroke. Her husband did - he's the ham. Someone on the hamnet recommended she contact Himself, after she tried selling a couple items after her husband's first stroke and found she couldn't answer questions and such.

Please hold good thoughts Dr. P can see me soonest and this is a rebuild and not a cap,

Hi DR

On my to do list is to join the local Y and take adult swimming lessons. I am going to do it as soon as this tax season is over.

Sorry about the misunderstanding and of course I will send my prayers and good thoughts Dr. P's way.

A little late as usual on the Sunday post, but here I am anyway.
Sorry to not be here as much of late but am still up to my ears in some finishing details in the project here at the house.

Bill, I have been stopping by to take a quick peek at your posts each day so I don't miss anything! So you are all in my thoughts everyday.

I did watch Project Runway and it never seems to amaze me at how some of the most awful things that I can't see anyone wearing always gets the most praise? I did like the one who was eliminated, but thought also she would be the next to go.

Can't wait to hear your take on Precious, it seems like a show I would like, based on the previews.

Bill I am with you on wishing DR could be my personal trainer! Maybe we both need to move?
DR, sounds like you had a lot of tupperware? I can relate, our project involves the kitchen and finally getting "rid" of some of mom's tupperware is really daunting. You know, can I really live without this or who to donate it to without making dad feel like I am ridding the kitchen of all his things too. I just am to the point that I have tons of things just sitting in the barn for the past 7 years that I am ready to either use or donate as well.
So Congrats on your finishing up week with the kitchen and other things. I love it when things get finished.

Hopefully the rest of the snow will melt away, so we can finish up our project, I love the snow but it did mess with our getting done quickly. (seriously pix will come soon) And Like you DR, I have a tooth that has a problem...right in the middle of one project and so I am not looking forward to getting it looked at either...it never goes well for me at the dentist seems to never be a rebuild and always a crown or cap!!!!
So am hoping yours goes well! Send some luck my way?

Hi Dona

Don't you dare apologize for being late! We know you are busy and we just appreciate it whenever you have time to post. We are also anxious to see the remodel pictures!!

You are also in our thoughts every day!

The stuff they call high fashion stinks usually. They need normal stuff.

Precious from all counts is heartbreaking but the acting is supposed to be great.

I tell right now the surprise of the nominated movies is an animated on. It is also out on video and on pay for view. UP stole my heart! Great little movie for adults and kids.

If you haven't used something for seven years you either don't need it or you have created a vaulable antique.

And you have luck heading your way!
