Yoga, Boring Days, & Exciting Cities

The answer to yesterday's Who Am I was Margaret B. Davis.

First up today is a woman that I would absolutely love:

Sometimes my life is really boring. Ever wonder what the most boring day in history was? I have the answer for you:

Are you so bored that you want to move to a different city? The most recent survey of the best places to live is out. Number one the best places to live also shows up as number one on the worst places to live. Mary's Seattle and Pat's Los Angeles make this surprising list of best cities.

Short post today because I have to pack and get ready to spend the next two nights at Mom's. What was the most boring day in your life? I can't really answer that because I have had to go to so many accounting seminars during my life. If you wanted to move from the city you now live in, would you move to any city on the above list? I would like to re-try Los Angeles. Then Ashland, Oregon. Are you going to doing you yoga at 92? Not me, I'll be dead. Any other comments you would like to make? Feel free.

We lived in a Nashville, TN, suburb from 1962-1986. It is a good city to live in. However...

We moved to Chattanooga in 1986, and like it much better. So the answer is, no, I wouldn't move from here. (Unless I had to be in a facility that required me to be closer to one of my children - then I don't think it would matter too much to me.)

Hi Mary Z

I would love to visit Chattanooga! or Nashville for that matter.

You'd love that woman? I think I'd hate her. {eg}

Just jesting. She sounds quite wonderful, it's just that she puts the rest of us regular humans to shame.

I could probably compete for "Most Boring Day", but that would be just from my own perspective.

As to your comment from yesterday, my mom isn't the oldest living, but she may become that if she hangs in long enough.

I have no idea where I'd like to move, if I were considering moving. I love the Seattle area, and I liked Portland a lot when I visited. Ashland is also appealing, as is the Denver area. Lots of nice places, and I'm glad L.A. managed to make the list for once.

I truly admire the yoga lady and think what she says has a great deal of merit. I took yoga classes at FULir from a woman in her mid-late eighties, who put the rest of us to shame. She was an inspiration and I often regret I didn't follow through on making yoga a part of my life, but there are only so many hours...

You know, think about the boring day. It may not have been that boring, but we wouldn't have know. AFter all, a lot of people still didn't have TV, we weren't dealing with constant news shows, talk shows, political analysis shows, breaking news from around the world and media infringement and interpretation into/of the lives of just about anyone and everyone. We didn't know about steroids for athletes and drugs for celebrities and we didn't hear about every crime committed in our own cities and those 3000 miles away. So, hey, it could have been a pretty exciting day somewhere in the world.

No desire to move to a different city and if I had to (which was the initial question), none of those listed hold any great deal of appeal. Greenville is as much city as I want and I like it because I live on the fringes. My primary avoidance factor is congestion and crowds and lack of easily accessible green space and roads to roam. AT our age and stage in life, we want peace, quiet, privacy, with ready availability of medical facilities and some cultural and fun events. We've got that here, living in a fairly rural area, with all the amenities within about 20-30 minutes drive or less. I'm quite happy where I am, thankyouverymuch.

To answer your questions from yesterday, we had a lovely dinner out, lots of chatting, came home to enjoy the CMA Christmas Celebration. Yes, hard to believe it's been 24 years, then sometimes seems like we've been together forever. I am, as I've mentioned before, among the most fortunate of women.

I would like to be bored, right now. This time of year surprises me, every time, how awful it is.

I love Seattle ten months a year, and can't imagine living anywhere else. This is not one of those ten months. I am dying from the lack of light, and the general, ongoing wetness. I have often thought that if I had to move, San Francisco and San Diego would be at the top of my list of choices. So I think you've got a good list there.

Hi Pat

I love all women, I just love some more than others.

And I think you have lead do lead an exciting life with your volunteer work and other activities.

I'm sure Mary and I would love to have you in either Portland or Seattle. It was good to see LA on the list because they do have a lot to offer.

Hi DR

I admire all men and women that age as gracefully as the yoga lady.

I think boring is all perspective. What is boring to some, may not be boring to others. And I love your perspective on the most boring day in history!

It sounds like you have created the perfect location for you and Himself!

And only two people that love each other and are willing to work with each other can make a marriage work for twenty-four years. My respect and congratulations to you.

Hi Mary

I would like to be bored too and for us we aren't going to be bored until April. We need to win the lottery so we can be bored in style.

The only think that turns me off about Seattle is the traffic, however, I love Edmonds. The dark doesn't bother me but the snow and ice does.

I'm not sure about San Fran but San Diego is beautifu.

Honestly, I live in Edmonds and work in Lynnwood, and it's probably been more than a year since I had to drive in traffic. You can make it work. I also suspect we have less snow and ice than you do.

I still think you should move up here and open your own practice and hire me.

Hi Mary

After Netstock I considered moving there and checked the weather out. You get more rainy days then us and a little more snowfall then my part of Portland. East Portland in the Gorge gets a lot more snow and ice then either of us.

Although the climate is changing on the average Portland has five days a year over 90 and five days a year under 32. The last two years have beat the average.
