Accidental Inventions.

Movies are on my mind with the Oscar Nominations out yesterday. Here is a movie story that I guarantee you everyone will enjoy:

Do you think it takes a lot of genius to invent something? Or is luck your style?

At first, I heard RED TAILS didn't open well, but after a day or two, the reports were much better. I do hope it does well. It's a story everyone should know about.

I couldn't get the second video on accidental inventions.

I find it telling that conservatives react more strongly to negative images. They have certainly seemed to have a negative frame of mind for the past few years, gaining them the "Party of No" reputation. I wonder if they are capable of change, or if their biology will always rule them.

I'm delighted to see the Tuskegee Airmen finally getting some recognition for their contributions and kudos to Lucas for having the courage and determination to pursue making the film. It's definitely one I want to see and I hope it does well at the box office, mostly because I think this is a piece of history that has been too long ignored.

Interesting video on the accidental inventions. Sachrine (sp) comes from coal dust? I think I'll avoid it, thank you. All were interesting and I got a kick out of the slinky accidental invention. What fun we had with those as toys. I remember introducing my niece and nephew to them and they were absolutely fascinated.

I'm not sure I track well to the conclusion of the study saying conservatives are drawn to negatives and liberals to positives. On the one hand, that could mean conservatives tend to only look on the dark side. On the other, it may mean they recognize negatives and want to fix them, as they're more comfortable with positives. Liberals may see the positives and move forward toward those, but could it mean they tend to ignore the negatives or possible negative results of what appear to be positive actions? I'd really like to see a study that not only looks at the immediate reaction of each to negative/positive images and/or situations, but also takes a look at what actions each group takes in response. Still, I doubt there will ever be a study that allows us a glimmer of understanding of our Congress critters and their avowed stance on either side of the coin.

Hi Pat

RED TAILS is picking up steam as the story gets out. I didn't know much about it until I read the article now I want to see it.

I think the party of no is often the opposite party of the president. The Conservatives I know tend to be more negative then my liberal frends when talking about Obama and more positive when talking about any of the Repulican candidate wheter it be the flip flopper or the guy that was having an affair at the same time he was impeaching a president for having an affair.

Hi DR

I am also delighted that the Tuskegee Airmen are getting recognition. Lucas is an amazing director. I hope parents take their kids to it.

I never new that about Sachrine either. I remember slinkys too! We had a hoot with them.

I think politics is the same as law. It is an occupation set up to be negative. In law usually can't have a good experience without having a bad one. (My wife's attorney was a barracuda). In politics you have opposition. Whenever there is opposition there is negativity from half the population regardless of what side you are on. I also think negative ads bring on negativity. They are so many of them because they prove to be effective. Personally, I would like to see less of "He/she did this" and more of "I did or will do this."
