Animal Magic

OK, I admit I am sucker for unusual animal stories. Does it make me squirrelly?

Click on the blue arrow at the top of the page to start the video.

How about another animal story?

The dog is braver than I would be. I hate snakes. I see one I am out of there.

From animals to another stupid school story:

Everything I have read on the subject says it is very unhealthy to hold it.

Comment Away.

Winkelheimer Smith is extremely cute, and I hope she enjoys her painting, but on the whole, I think maybe she should keep her day job of chomping on nuts and climbing trees.

Bravo to River! Good dog! I'm glad to see he's getting treatment for his snakebite and expected to recover.

I think it probably is unhealthy for a little kid to "hold it" too long. It can certainly be messy if they fail. I can, however, also sympathize with teachers being asked for bathroom permissions too often. As to the h.s. new rules, they seem a bit extreme, but apparently so is the behavior of some of the students. I'm glad I'm not a principal these days.

When I was in high school, people smoked in the bathrooms during break. It was horrible in there. I just trained myself not to go during those times. Probably not the healthiest thing in the world, but it worked, and didn't hurt me any. That's a big difference from grade school, though. I do understand the teacher's frustration.

The squirrel is cute, but I can't see myself buying any of her paintings. Nice the lady rescued her and made her a pet, however.

Kudos to the dog for saving the kids and I'm so glad to hear he's being treated and expected to recover completely. He's definitely part of the pack and protective.

The bathroom issues are multiple. I agree that "holding it" has the potential to create some long term and serious problems, to say nothing of infections. Not a healthy alternative. As to the doors off the bathrooms, most bathrooms are designed in such a way that no doors won't affect privacy of the folks in the bathroom and, given some of the horror stories I've heard about drug deals and knife attacks in bathrooms, I can see where the administration might adopt that policy.

Hi Pat

I wonder how Winkelheimer Smith would do out in the real world after being domesticated.

River should now retire to be taken care of. I am also glad they are treating his snakebite and that he is going to recover.

I wonder about the emotional scars of someone basically forced to have an accident. I also sympathize with the teachers but am sure if they thought about it for a few seconds more could come up with a better solution.

Hi Mary

I do think the age between grade school and high school would make a huge difference. High school age would have more control. I just think there is a better way to solve the problem than what the school is doing.

Hi DR

I like your new profile picture.

I might buy a squirrel painting, just for a lark. I imagine the conversation you could have if someone asked who painted the picture.

The snake attacking doctor deserves to be taken care of and celebrated.

Encouraging holding it is just. I am more concerned about the holding it than I am the doors. There is a way they could do the doors without causing anyone any harm. I just think they need to think of a different solution than encouraging unhealthy behaviour.
