I'm Back!

Finally Google Blogs are back up and running.

I got back from Mom's about 12:30 yesterday. She is doing pretty well right now and we had a good two days together. I kept her really busy the two days there and maybe that is the answer. Keep her so busy that she doesn't have time to think about her age or her pains.

Mom is doing better than the Google blogs. They were out all day yesterday and most of this morning. They were set to read only which means that you could read the blogs but we couldn't post a daily entry. There was no way to let everyone know the blog was down. I hope the during the day and a half of being down fixed the trouble that Dona, Pat, & DR were having with the blog.

Let's start the day off with a good story about a pretty darn smart thirteen year-old:

http://smallbusiness.aol.com/2011/05/10/mancans-hart-main-a-13-year-old-entrepreneur-invents-candles-f/

Wish I could have been as smart at that age. I'm not sure I'm that smart now.

Moving on to an unusual way to off encouragement to victims of the Japan earthquake:

And let's close on a bit of a warning should you own a certain type of truck:

Fire away.

PRESIDENT

"It seems as though I have been president for twenty years." I didn't finish my first four year term dying of a heart attack before the term ended. I was born in 1865 and went on to become head honcho at a newspaper. I married the daughter of my arch enemy, nicknamed "The Duchess." Historians often call me the worst president in history, But two years in office isn't long enough to do much damage.Which President Am I?

I thought something was wrong with the blog as I could only access older blog posts, like from last month. ? Every time I tried to check in it gave me a different day to read..or was it re read?

Anyhow I was still having some trouble on the last few posts to comment, so didn't get to tell DR that I loved the new dog pics! She is a cutie.

I love the story about the 13 year old...this is what we need from others that age. Most I know this age are just lazy.

I know this isn't update day, but wanted to let everyone know that the Shankster got the first surgery under his belt today. He is home and although in a lot of pain, doing ok. The "lump" turned out to be a tumor but doc thinks benign. He had never seen or heard of one in this area, or as big, it was the size of a Mediterranean olive. But will still have it checked to be sure. Shankster can't talk, or eat yet, but is drinking plenty and scarfing down the pudding and ice cream, which he says is soothing.
He also managed to point out my mistakes in driving home...so I think he is doing just fine!

Hi Dona

First, I am really glad the surgery is over and that the tumor was benign. I'm sorry he is in pain but my guess is the higher ups are sending him a message not to say anything about your driving when you are either holding the steering wheel or a gun. Keep filling him with Ice Cream and tell him to have a dacandant double fudge dish for me.

That is what the blog was doing yesterday afternoon and night. They had to take posts down to restructure their software and then this morning they were restoring all the posts.

That 13 year-old is really pretty amazing.

A Get Well to The Shankster.

Bill

PS

Any day on the blog is update day. No rules here except don't use the word whine.

Funny about the "ManCans". This 13y/o knows how to do things better than the adult I saw on THE SHARK TANK trying to get investors for the exact same thing (except for the soup cans, which is a great idea). I don't remember what the guy's scents were, but of course one was bacon. I've always heard that smelling like pumpkin pie attracts men, so I'm surprised neither of them have that one. The guy on TV had one for a joke, a fart candle, which got a very disgusted face from everyone who took a sniff of it. None of the "sharks" were willing to invest in this guy's company, but they might have liked the 13 y/o better.

Not sure what the point is on the message bra/skirt. If they were selling it and donating to relief efforts, that would make sense. Sort of.

Hi Pat

That is why I posed the bra article is I just didn't get it.

I love the show The Shark Tank. It always surprised what investments they accept and which ones they durn down.

So glad to see we're up and running again. The error messages I got made it clear, later in the evening, it was an issue with the blog site.

Dona, glad you enjoyed the pix. I have more (g). I'm so glad the Shankster has the surgery behind him, although sorry he's in such pain. Sending prayers the tumor was benign. I suspect your mantra for the next few days is going to be "Patience, Dona, patience." Meantime, give him a hug from me, please.

Bill, I'm glad to hear Mom is doing better. I think you're right - sometimes we need to keep busy and occupied, to take our minds away from aches and pains and the like.

Good job on the kid with the candles. I love it, when kids have great ideas and parents encourage them to pursue same. Heck, I'm a girl and I'd love a candle that smells like fresh mown grass. Even bacon - might wake me up in the morning (g).

Like you and Pat, I don't quite understand the bra story, in terms of what it's accomplishing. Is the company giving them away to the earthquake victims, as encouragement to carry on? That's about the only thing that makes sense to me.

As to Ford 150, that's one of the most popular trucks around, from what little I know about vehicles. They're all over the south, Texas and the Midwest.

Okay, btw, I still needed to copy msg, sign in, be told it couldn't be processed, come back, paste and have it published. Obviously, they didn't fix that particular problem, but it's become a pretty automatic process for me now.

DR, I also have to copy, come back, paste..etc...But I never got the message about it being a blogger issue, until today, on here. Guess I am a little slow especially when my posts on my blog kept disappearing, gee glad to know it was a blogger issue, I just thought I was losing it. I knew I posting several posts!! lol

I would love to see more dog pics, we want another so bad, but my dad isn't much of an animal lover if you get my drift.

And Bill, sorry to forget to tell you I was glad also to hear your mom is doing well now. I agree with you on keeping busy to not have time to think about what ails you.

Thanks Bill for the comments per the Shankster, he cracked a smile. Almost laughed, but he knew it would hurt too much!
Thanks all for the hugs, good thoughts. We both appreciate them.

I'll add my good wishes for the Shankster and agree that when you feel crappy, keeping busy will keep you more cheerful.

About the trouble posting. I wonder if it could be an operating system problem. DR and Dona, are you both using Windows? Mac? I have no trouble posting comments.

Also, could it be that you don't sign in with a gmail account? Maybe that makes a difference, though I see that this page says to email comments to me at my gmail address, and I'd never see them if you did that. I use that account for anyone I think will send me spam, so I never check it or read anything there.

Hi DR

I was kind of lost during the period when the blog wasn't working.

Send all the pictures you want and I will include them. That goes for anyone.

The parents always impress me in these stories because they always seem to be so encouraging.

The Ford 150 is the most popular pickup in the United States. It kind of scares me that there are so many on the road.

Hi DR

It disappoints me that you still have to do that to post a comment, I was hope almost two days of frustration would at least result in fixing that problem.

Hi Dona

Sorry the issues you and DR were having with the blog weren't fixed.

Never think you are losing it, either with blog or life issues. The best way to avoid losing it is to kick something.

I wonder if you got a little dog if it wouldn't change your dad. My dad wasn't much of an animal lover either but when I had Katie her and dad were the best of buds.

Well, shoot if it hurts when The Shankster laughs, I was going to send him a picture of me in my hula skirt and stratigically placed pineapples.

Hi Pat

I use Windows and don't have any trouble.

I keep signed in so maybe that is the problem.

Also if you put a check mark or an x in the box next to Email it will email you everytime there is a comment posted to the thread you have posted in.
