Pictures, Stings, & Glass

Nothing planned today for the first time in eight days. So I am just going to clear off my desk. Schedule my education. Order next year's tax program. Get my rewards from Walgren's. Vote by mail. Pay bills. Write a defense of a ticket I received from a red light camera. Do an online AAA rewards for Mom. Work on the books of a client. Watch last night's episodes of The Good Wife and The Amazing Race. Pick up my drugs. Grocery shop. A normal day.

The Statue of Liberty is going to start having a different kind of day, moving on beyond the normal:

I am waiting anxiously to see the pictures.

I'm hoping I don't have the kind of day of the woman in the following article had:

I have a film given to me when I worked on the landing on the moon. I didn't know that was government property. I'm glad I know now because I was seriously thinking of selling it.

Speaking of valuable things do you have any Steuben Glass? I don't even know what it is so I think I'm fine.

Comment Away.

QUOTE

"A further sign of health is that we don't become undone by fear and trembling, but we take it as a message that it's time to stop struggling and look directly at what's threatening us. " was authored by a Tibetan Buddhist teacher born by a different name than she was known by. She studied Buddhism in the French Alps and London, where she was ordained. She worked with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche from 1974 until 1987. She was ordained in the Chinese lineage of Buddhism in 1981 in Hong Kong. Since 1984 she served as the director of Gampo Abbey in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She has taught lectured widely and has written several books on meditation practice in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. She was born "around 1936". What do you think of THE WISDOM OF NO ESCAPE AND THE PATH OF LOVING KINDNESS? Answer that and you can tell me who authored today's quote.

LOL! If today is an example of a day when you have nothing planned to do, I'd sure hate to see a listing of a planned day. {g}

I guess I'm glad Lady Liberty will be given eyes, and might even try to see through them one of these days. Nice tribute to Emma Lazarus, also. I had no idea she had died so young.

What a strange story about the tiny moon rock. The agents were pretty harsh on the woman, but she was obviously aware she shouldn't be trying to sell it, but wanted to proceed anyway, and her price was certainly high enough. She apparently got off, went home, and will probably not be prosecuted. Who has the rock now? NASA? Some other gov't agency?

I know what Steuben glass is, but I don't have any. It can be quite beautiful, but in this economy, I'm not surprised to hear that it's not selling well. Not to mention the company isn't the same now as it used to be.

Nothing planned? Sounds like a week-long "to do" list to me!

Interesting article on the Statue of Liberty and interesting information on the poem, poet and other side issues. Like you, I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures from the webcam.

I read about the moon rock thing at the time it first happened. Sounds like the gov't isn't going to pursue it, but I'm not so sure about the lady's attorney, given the allegations of rough handling and such.

I know what Steuben glass is, although I'm not sure I've ever see any. I certainly don't own any, more's the pity.

Blogger's being strange. First msg, it made me go to Google to sign in, then didn't recognize my password and threw me and my message out. That happens so rarely, I've quit copying my messages for safety's sake. Silly me!

Hi Pat

Most of the things on the list are short things and easy to do. The last week has been filled with long term things like all day with Mark or Mom, hours with a client, etc. So it filled like a vacation and today is going to fill that way too!

I knew Emma Lazarus died young because I researched her for one of the Who Am I's. She was quite a woman.

I thought the story was strange and seemed like a huge waste of federal resources. I am guessing NASA has the rock. The same people that lost the famous film.

Anything expensive in the economy is going to bite the dust. Especially ones that change executives and change methods that have been successful for years.

Hi DR

Just a couple of days and the to do list will be done!

The Statue of Liberty's story still fascinates me. Even after all these years.

The lady's attorny, frankly, should be shot. She should get another one.

I seldom have trouble with blogger yet I still compose entries and messages off line and then cut and past when I sign on. That old safe and sorry thing.
