Rants, Raves, & Vents

Sometimes the blog is about rants, movie reviews and sometimes they go together like today's old blog entry:

http://thedahnreport.blogspot.com/2009/07/ugly-truth-is-lie-ugly-rant-is-truth.html

The blog is also sometimes about venting. As you know you are welcome to come here anytime and post a vent anywhere on the blog. Sometimes a good old vent or rant just does the soul so much good! That it what I am going to do today, rant and vent about an article that I read:

http://www.parentdish.com/2010/01/07/british-ads-pulled-after-angering-career-women-uk-web-site-repo/?icid=main|htmlws-sb-n|dl5|link4|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.parentdish.com%2F2010%2F01%2F07%2Fbritish-ads-pulled-after-angering-career-women-uk-web-site-repo%2F

Come on people, wasn't there a living, breathing soul somewhere at the association mentioned in the above article? Certainly they had to have someone with a brain in their advertising department that would stand up and say to them, "you know calling working moms bad moms isn't really a good idea." What brilliant person at that association created this stupid ad? That it even aired once is amazing. That the ad was created in the first place is incredible. Maybe they hired a reject from the ad staff of godaddy.com. Isn't that where all the sexiest ads are born?

What do you think of the ad? What would you like to vent about today? Got any good rants in there waiting to come out? Go for it. Celebrate today with a rant or vent!

Enjoyed your old post, now that I have seen the movie, too. It was just stupid, and any woman who would go for a man, even a dishy one like Gerard Butler, who spouted off as he did, is an idiot or desperate or both.

Same "idiot" category for whoever thought it was a good idea to put up that ad. What on earth did they expect? That, as they said later, it might lead to discussion? Ha!

But in fact, the comments on this article started out with statements that working moms are "less attentive to their children", so I guess there are people who need some education on the subject. I see the comments soon devolved into guys looking for dates, including a self-described "doctor" who couldn't spell "registration" and someone peddling a nude Angelina Jolie video. {heavy sigh}

Sorry, I'm feeling fairly cheerful this morning and have no rants for today. Must call the cable company later, and then I'll no doubt have one.

Hi Pat

Among the many million things that bothered me about the movie was that Gerard Butler was teaching her how to attract men and the movie portrayed it is working. Barf.

And there is a discussion going on abut the ad, about how stupid it was to do it!

Geez, I'd forgotten about "The Ugly Truth" blog. It fits in quite well with the ugly advertising campaign article. Both are ugly lies. One wonders if the entire staff of the advertising agency is brain dead. If you want to engender discussion, why not a billboard that asks something like, "Are career women and stay-at-home moms offering their children equal benefits, if in different ways?" Accusations rarely lead to rational or logical discussions and the banner/
billboards sure look like an accusation of sorts to me.

Rants? Not really. Piddly stuff that annoys me, but nothing worth a real rant. (This is a Good Thing)

Hi DR

I am glad things are going so well for everyone that no vents or rants are required!

There were so many better ways to spark discussions then the way the association did it, it just boggles the mind that any association can have so many stupid people working there.
