New Year's Eve

When I was going through my self-discovery period in the great city of Los Angeles, California I always went out to celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of the New Year. Many celebrations didn't go exactly as we planned. Once ending up in a Hells Angels bar in a suit. Another time twenty of us took the celebration from her house down to the closest bar, where when I walked in I was gree...ted by a dude in nice evening gown who promptly said "should I kiss you or your date?". Since moving to Portland my New Year's Eve tradition is the boring man's threesome. That's the plan for tonight, Diet Coke, Pizza, and a movie.

I will be at Mom's tonight. My night so sister and her husband can celebrate. I'm looking forward to it in a weird way. Calm New Year's Eve, Calm New Year.

Speaking of traditions:

If I were going to a party I would probably pick one of these:

And things that I am not going to do at the stroke of midnight tonight.

HAPPY NEW YEARS TO YOU ALL. MAY 2013 BE BETTER THAN 2012 AND BRING YOU JOY, LOVE, SUCCESS, GOOD FOOD, GOOD FRIENDS, AND THE ANSWER TO YOUR DREAMS

Sounds like a good way to spend New Year's to me. Ours will be quiet. We didn't make reservations for anywhere and I'm thinking shrimp linguini with a French banquette. God only knows what condition the salad fixings may be in. Like you, I'm hoping a quiet and calm New Year's Eve will bring a quiet and calm 2013.

Fun traditions. Our New Year's Day meal will be at the airport and I doubt it will include black-eyed peas, although they're a Southern tradition, along with ham and collard greens. Wish I had some red underwear.

Looks like there are extraveganzes (sp) around the world. Most look like a great deal of fun. I guess I've become an old fuddy-duddy- I really prefer a quiet night, without crowds and traffic and congestion.

Okay, some things not to do at the stroke of midnight. Interesting to see. Since I doubt either of us will see midnight or the ball drop, I can pretty much not worry about doing "bad" things. I'll stuff some money in my pockets in the morning. Unfortunately, I'll be hauling lots of stuff out of the house in the suitcases going to the airport. Hopefully, that gets some sort of special dispensation (wry s).

I echo your wishes to all for the upcoming year. 2012 had some unpleasant bumps in the road, especially lately, but overall the year was good to us and we showered with many blessings. I'm hoping 2013 will see us and all of you happy and healthy and successful in whatever endeavors you decide to pursue.

I think we have the techie stuff set up for the trip. Deb has wi-fi. I think the acute care center has wi-fi. I've no idea how long I'll be gone or what time I'll have for communication, so I may be hit and miss for a bit, but know I'll be thinking of all of you. Won't shut down the computer until late morning, probably. Please hold good thoughts for a smooth flight and getting the rental car and the time with Mom and Deb.

Hi DR

Love the menu for New Year's Eve.

I don't even think they have black eyed peas in Oregon so I did the underwear thing. I want the odds on my side to have a good year.

I think people are not doing much on New Yeaar's Eve anymore. I came home from Mom for a bit around nine to check on my house and there wasn't a car on the road. So if people were doing something there were going to a venue whether it be at a hotel or a private facility and staying there.

The only thing I am stuffing in pocket is change to buy the newspaper. But that should work.

I'll echo your wishes for 2013. And wish you safe travels and peace when you get to Arizona. Peace of mind.

Bill
